I don't think anything said here has contributed to Watts being on the trade table. Speculation was created by Jones, Goodwin, Mahoney and McCartney causing everyone to worry about whats going on. If they had of handled it in house and professionally then it wouldn't have got to such hysteria. But I do see your point and fully respect your posts.

No, not about Watts. But if people start taking aim at Goodwin, McCartney, Viney, Jones, Jackson etc (which has already happened) and believing unsubstantiated scuttlebutt by people with no accountability for their posts it has the potential to snowball.

You would think/hope that deals are in place based on when Jack makes up his mind.

Thats the point, If Jack indicates the club, I would be amazed if that trade takes more than 24 hours to facilitate.

Sounds like he is hanging onto the prospect of playing for Geelong if at all possible, and given Geelong got pick 19 and the Ablett trade being their priority he won't nominate Port until the last moment.

At the end of the day, the scuttlebutt was started after a decision had been made. Anyway, all the best to Jack, lets move on to winning a few flags and not let this drag the club down.

Paul Connor just said on Trade Radio that Jack will not be at Melbourne next year, for those still holding out hope

And all of those people that were holding onto hope of him staying need to have an honest look at themselves. Blind Freddy could see that he wasn't staying! Bloody frustrating.

See, this is what I mean.

Don't go trying to read into things that aren't there frankie. Someone throws out a vague comment and makes allusions to something and then you have other posters scrambling to interpret its meaning and through Chinese whispers it has a destabilising effect on the club.

Fair comment, Doc. Don't feed the anonymous trolls is good advice. Should have taken it.

Like many of us, I've been critical of Jack, but don't want to see him go.

Over and out

You mean like the post from GNF a while back which suggested Watts trip to Byron got him on the slippery slope to where we are today?  That the club were filthy, that his rehab was hampered... etc etc etc?

Look how much that has evolved. Now its been accepted as fact that Jack never tries, that his injury wasn't that bad, he just didnt care enough to get back as fast as he could, that he is a terrible trainer, that he doesnt spend enough time in the gym putting on muscle, that he is a terrible influence on all the young players... etc

Scuttlebutt central this place, from both sides of the debate.

It still rather bemuses me that so many have yet to twig what this has been about.

The MFC don't care about any value for this trade. They've always been prepared to take chump change dressed up as some 'dowery'.

Smell the flowers folks.... It's just been about pushing Jack out the door.

Classy.

Trade to Freo for Weller and pick 5 hahahahaha

Don’t care what his dad thinks.

Make your call, Jack.  Get the deal done.  Close this damned thread.  Enough already.

I DO I agree with Andrew Watts Jack Watts has been sledged, Brow beaten and comprimised throughout this whole sorry saga. Club have handled this Abysmally!

Whether he goes to Pt Adelaide or Geelong it clearly puts either team right in Premiership Mode!

Meanwhile we are light years away!

So would I, but in the end he only has himself to blame.

Yes Watts has himself to blame alright. When the club was a shambles and looking for some stability before Roos took over in 2014 JW could have away. He didn't poor sod, but stayed and signed on for 3 years. Only to be pushed along. I won't go on.

However the critics with NFI got there way.  Good Luck to JW. Keep talking your crap.

Jack Watts you deserve BETTER!

God you say some crazy things fence.

We've had Jack for years. At what stage were WE in Premiership mode?

He is not the star you think he is. He is simply a handy footballer, with great kicking skills, and an inability to keep both hands in the air.

Wow this has been the most divisive issue l have seen in Demonland.

l feel for Jack, he has had a really tough time in his years at MFC. Maybe he is better off with a fresh start. But from what l have read he has not chosen a new team, and is OS somewhere probably reading this bloody thread.

Whatever happens, l admire him for his running and kicking abilities and hope he can enjoy playing footy wherever that is.

Andrew Watts is spot on. Melbourne Football Club have handled this terribly. As a football fan we get a front row seat to this circus, but I would rather this circus not be MFC - but another club.

Jump on the Western Bulldogs website if you want a circus happening at a different club.

Guess it makes him one of the clowns.

The MFC has employed his sun for 9 years. Hasn't always been the best treatment but it could've been a lot worse. Is it too much to ask for him to shut his fat trap for a while until the deal is done?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
