Let's be honest. West Coast aren't beating Adleiade at home, let alone by 50 odd points.

We're playing finals ladies and gents. Nath Jones in September. Drink it in.

Meth Coast season is on the line. Crows have a home final locked in week 1. Players can become complacent.

Two games with 4 goal margins can make it very interesting.

Lets just beat the Pies and put it beyond doubt

Was there anything picked up in the telly re what jeffy did to rile up Beams? Beams was mouthing off at him for most of the match, even running to/from the bench

Pedo has kicked more than his fair share of crunch goals this year.

And somewhere Stuie silently sheds a tear, thinks of a new hashtag and accompanying wacky gif to go along with it.

I'm just wrapped for the bloke. I found it interesting on Fox Footy that they mentioned that Watts (they usually mention Weed as the Bear's replacement) will be hard pressed to get back into the team, such is his form.

In the end, we got there. One more win to make it official then a whole new ball game starts.

One thing I was impressed with was when the Lions (make no mistake, they ARE going places and will be challenging for the top eight I would say in 2 years time) got within 7. Whoever got us to slow things down (as evidenced by Hannan's pass to Brayshaw in the last minute) needs to be commended. In years gone by, it would have been heads off and pumpkins on time. It could be said that we arsed it up against North in a tight game but we weren't defending a lead then.

I was also pleased that Clarry shook Mathieson's tag. The sign of a great midfielder is the ability to do this and by the time the third came around, he was able to impose himself on the game.

I don't buy that we are in September yet. We need to seal the deal next week. No ifs, buts or maybes.

Watch him every time the lions play.

Throws his head back like he is in the hands of ISIS, every time someone lays a hand on him, even if its around his waist.

Cheating, head throwing, knee buckling filth.

I thought the umpires were directed not to pay the rubbish ones anymore.

That dog sucks them in almost every time.

In the first, he tried it with maybe his first touch of the game, and the umps called for a ball up. I thought they were on to him, but he persisted with his knee collapsing, and he eventually wore the umps down.

Did I mention how much I hate the sight of the cheating [censored]  ??

Nothing was said about it in commentary, but it looked to me like Zorko popped Bernie fair on the chin when Bernie was on top of him.  After the game, Bernie was seen to be feeling his jaw like it was a bit tender.  Anyone else see the incident?

Our handball at all costs style needs to come under review, especially late in game when we have a lead and can potentially put oppositions teams to the sword.

I love Jetta, but late in the game we were streaming forward in the middle of the ground and he went for the handpass over the top which was turned over and resulted in a Brisbane goal.

You can't mark from a handpass, our players need to remember this.

Poor win IMO blew a 5 goal leed when we need percentage, could have almost been safe if we'd gone on with it. As much as I like Hunt's run can someone tell him our blokes are in the red and blue.

Yes saw that at the time but the camera angle didn't show where the contact was. It led to a goal and they kept cutting the incident out of the replays.

Just another example of a Dees player being clocked in the head and play on the call.

Benny is not a patch on you, you make me laugh all the time Mr Flip Flop

On the game, one side played like they were afraid to lose, the other played like they had nothing to lose

We won, it was horrible, move on

Yes he's an annoying little [censored] isn't he.

Pedo made him earn one late which was good to see, however he got up.

Brisbane wearing that jumper against us is ridiculous, I honestly think with one of his kicks he mistook their player for ours.

Hunt does need to learn to stop and prop, his lateral movement (see Jetta) is non-existent at the moment.

I don't get the "brisbane aren't bad" sentiment on here.  They were putrid today, I agree they have some stars and could be ok down the track.  But they will likely win the spoon.  Today they were bad,  and we were very very lucky to get away with the 4 points. Sometimes it's nice to be glass half full but it shouldn't cloud judgement on our performance today.

So....

As my wife and I fought our way through IKEA this afternoon with 2x cranky two year olds I was checking the scores every minute or two. The battle we faced dealing with lollygaggers, rubberneckers and just plain [censored] stupid people in the claustrophobic throng was nothing like the enjoyable Scandinavian utopia I was hoping for.

Judging by the score line, our anguished shopping outing seemed synonymous with whatever was happening at the G today.

Next scorecheck, we were kicking away (so I thought) to a four goal plus lead. By the time I got home they had it back to 7 points. I couldn't do it and turned off my phone. When I turned it back on, a dramatic message from a mate describing the shitfullness of the game made me think we'd lost. To much relief, a final scorecheck said otherwise.

bloody hell, I'm totally drained!

The burning question is watch the replay or not?

Please cast your votes here....

oh and GO DEEEEES!!!

i hear you brother, confess to being weak and checking 1st before starting the replay

It was a chin tap, but Bernie was probably trying to distract from the fact he dropped his knee into the blokes ass after he took the mark.

Quite a dirty buzztard is Bernie.

Must admit I agree with you. I see Mathieson as a cheat, not a footballer. Pretty poor for a young player just starting out.

Brisbane's defence is ordinary.

Midfield with Martin, Beams, Zorko, Rockliffe, etc is excellent.

And like your 2 captain call earlier in the year should teach you.  Hold fire on ridiculous uncorroborated calls.

That moment was the turning point. Jetta should have just gone back (quickly) over the mark and assessed his options.

In rough terms there is about a 40 point difference between us and wet coke. If we lose by 20 points and they win by 20 points they may scrape us by about .1 of a percent. I think wet coke may beat Adelaide who already have a top 2 position locked. We have to beat the pies.

Which is why we should have smashed em today.

But according to plan we must keep chewing our nails.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
