As noted, Hardwick was right on cue!

"The home crowd gets behind them. Have a look at the free kick count," Hardwick said after the game.  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-12/look-at-the-free-kick-count-hardwick-unhappy...He said crowd noise played a part in whether the whistle was blown, and acknowledged it happened everywhere."

They have 13 wins largely because of their easy draw vs lowly teams and only 3 wins were vs current top 8 teams!  Their season is a big improvement on 2016 bit It will not be a happy ending for the tiger army!

Watch them go out in stratight sets.

Oh let it be true...Please....

Yeah it would be funny to see them go out in straight sets.

But seriously dimma yes some of the decisions may have gone the cats way but you were playing a team that was missing their captain and there star forward.

Also your 3rd quarter was hopeless. And your precious boy rance got outplayed.

I'm assuming they had to do it this week. They knew the AFL will now spend a week deliberating before retrospectively awarding the standing ovation to Trent Cotchin and Sam Mitchell in time for the final round.

Geez, 0.3% separating us from the Bombers. I'm going to be absolutely livid if we [censored] up tomorrow. It will be our single worst loss for the year, in a year full of miserable losses.

In such a close year, I'm not sure it really is*

*see Demonland **

** Unless we lose tomorrow :)

It would be the spiritual sequel to our loss to Carlton in round 22 last year. Almost identical situation, exact same number of wins, a chance at securing a finals position, a devastating loss that extinguished our season.

It would be groundhog day to lose again under such similar circumstances.

We need to prove that we've made progress this year beyond a few token wins outside Victoria.

Lovely term ..."spiritual sequel" but surely that title must be reserved for losing to the Bears after we have beaten the Saints and is  Collingwood where we meet our virtual Waterloo (appropriate seeing Collingwood was the 2iC Admiral to Nelson at Trafalgar).

Perfectly timed momentum bursting loss for the Dons. I'd expect them to have another loss to ... Oh [censored]. They play the two worst teams in the AFL right now.

Tonights loss has made it difficult, although I never expected Essendon to win.

As I have said all along, Dees in the box seat if they win tomorrow. WCE has their destiny in their own hands, while due to poor %, both Saints and Bulldogs will be relying on other teams to lose.

But despite our poor record against bad teams, I would be disappointed if we didn't finish of the season with 2 wins against the team that conceded 22 goals to Brisbane today, and the other team that lost by 104 points.

If the Dees make it, they will have deserved it with the amount of injuries to key players this year. If we don't play finals, I hope Melbourne do.

We are playing Brisbane, not the team they flogged today.

And we are not playing Freo either?

Good to hear he has made at least one correct choice then.  Make that 2.

No matter. demons and west coast now control the final 2 spots but their draw is a killer. If they make it they will deserve to.

Richmond beaten in first week to Adelaide in Adelaide, then knocked out by Demons in 1st semi final.

Demons into prelim against ?????

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
