A rather sad indictment of our team really. No wonder our % is rubbish.

?

37 goals to this point in the season puts him in elite company for a small forward. Of course he's going to be given grace for one poor game.

Thankfully the game wasn't on free to air and I saw no vision.  BUT how can Garlett have one kick and two handpasses?   Really!  How! Was he running away?  One of the three disposals was effective. How can he be up for selection?

You've answered your own question, you didn't see the game,  the entries into the 50 were deplorable

Are you just making stuff up now? Or have I missed something?

Watts looked very much like he was carrying something on the weekend. He had 2 shots on goal from around 50 and both times he barely took more than 2 or 3 steps running in, looked like he still didn't have confidence in the hammy (which makes me think it was a mistake he played). Surprisingly the kick against the wind went through and with the wind dropped short.

Hopefully with an 8 day break he gets over that, and then has a bigger impact on the game.

9 other teams have a worse percentage, and we are within a couple of % of 2 others, exaggeration?

Been out biggest issue over the last 6 weeks. We seem to kick long to a contest too often, which makes it hard to score freely. The saints would love if we did the same again.

Bring Hannan in, get him and Trac rotating between high-half forward and deep leading forward and that will give us a new look inside 50. Hannan had a great game earlier this year doing exactly that. I'd bring him in for Pedo and get Watts or TMac rucking again. If that's too short then Harmes given a week off and Weid brought in as well.

In: Hannan and maybe Weid

Out: Pedo and maybe Harmes

In: Hannan, JKH

Out: Pederson, Tyson or Salem.

Tyson needs to learn some awareness, and how to use the ball effectively. How we keep rewarding some players with games when they are just ball collectors, and turn over merchants is beyond me.

Salem needs to put in more effort as well. He is a talented player. Show some desperation FFS. You aren't playing under 12's.

Bring in JKH. He must have p*ssed on someones breakfast - but they need to get over it. Throw out Jordan - 'I won't go for a hard ball' Lewis if you have to. But preferably Tyson. He can use some time learning how to hit up a target.

Apart from Stkilda all those have lost more games.

Watts can support Max in the ruck. I think Jack played his better footy when he had greater involvement in the game.

I agree with your last statement. By rucking he is forced to compete. The only position on the ground this applies. And we have all bemoaned Jack's lack of attack at the ball. He may not win the tap outs, but he presents as an additional mid.

Having argued against bringing in Brayshaw too early (I think he needs more games at Casey) it seems he might be in the squad and a good chance to play on Sunday.

No source, only reading between the lines when his father was interviewed on SEN this morning.

I'm not sure that fills me with confidence at all.

Most of those playing well at Casey have been tried at AFL this year and found to be wanting.  I don't see much in-form talent waiting in the wings (except Hannan to come back and Gus if he is ready).

And tbh unless the 'outs' are the likes of Gawn, Oliver, Hibberd, Jetta then given the way we have been playing no 'outs' would shock me!

I just hope they aren't simply shuffling the deck chairs!

Brayshaw to play according to my well connected source

Only thing I can say is I don't think Keilty has been upgraded from the rookie list has he? So I doubt he'll play

I would think Brayshaw is an outside chance and Maynard should retain his place. Weeds may come in for Watts? (or perhaps he comes in at the expense of Pedersen so Watts can take some rucking duties).

Yes good point, well made.

Watts out is my guess. Weid in. Only people giving 100% need apply

Well with a Sunday game it starts at 6.25pm today with a squad.   Hence the outs at this stage are the most significant.  There's lots of scope after last week.

I'm just a tad gobsmacked at Lewis and Petracca running around in the press talking hypotheticals.  I'm also bemused by people on here talking about us being able to make finals on two wins.    Let's stop relying on others and focus on the task at hand - beat the Saints on Sunday.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
