AFL Round 16 - Non MFC Games 2017

Well, to say most results haven't gone our way in the last fortnight would be an understatement (barring the Brisbane win over Essendon). Fremantle blowing a win against St Kilda has really put pressure on us, because it's created a 10 horse race for finals. 2 of Richmond, St Kilda, Sydney, Port Adelaide, Melbourne, West Coast and Essendon are going to miss out.

  • Fortunately Essendon remain a loss AND percentage out of the 8, but they have a very easy run home and 5 wins from their next 7 gets them to 12.
  • West Coast don't convince me but 5 of their last 8 games are at home (and we know how much of a BS advantage they get there).
  • Richmond have Fremantle, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Hawthorn to come, 3 of which they should win.
  • Port's only real 'gimmes' are North and Gold Coast. They should account for Collingwood and the Bulldogs, plus their great percentage is as good as an extra win.

If we're going to play finals, we have to earn it despite our injuries. We need at least 4 wins from our final 8 and must retain a stable percentage. Lose tomorrow and we're in serious trouble.

The only results that haven't gone our way in the past fortnight are losing to Sydney and GWS escaping with a draw against the Hawks. Eyes to the front SaberFang, and don't get distracted by the ne'er-do-wells at the back of the class.

I'm worried about our round 23 v Collingwood.

They'll be out of the finals race, but it'll be Buck's last game as coach, and the players will all lift for the occasion.

How I hope I'm wrong!

Let's just hope the result of that match is irrelevant... I'll be sick if the top 8 is still in play by round 23 (and a loss costs us our place).

What a season! GWS 2 draws in a row with the worst injury list in the comp.

Sainters smashing the tiggers to keep the pressure on us. Is Cotchin the worst captain in the comp?

Dees on the up this year but are being tested each week, massive game today.

According to Rance,  Cotchin is the best captain in the competition. Can someone inform me as to how many captains has he played under?

Silly season indeed!

We have been urinating in the wind since Max went down in the second quarter against Geelong, even as further back as the Jesse and Lewis suspensions in round 2, yet we are well and truly alive in the hunt.

This is definitely a different team from years ago and we all should be proud of how the MFC have taken on these endless challenges.

Anyone else nervous right now?

Richmond supporters claiming they didn't turn up. 6-7 weeks out from finals and being one of the supposed two in form teams of the competition. If they don't finish top 4 a finals performance like that will see them bundled out in the first week, again. To be honest they pushed a few teams I thought they would struggle against but last night they showed their true colours, the Tigers of old are back.

Yellow jumpers don't help give a "good look" either.

Yup, sure were last night, in fact im not totally sure they ever really left! Theyve even managed to get their % back to a 9th ish type scenario. They really want that 9th spot badly dont they.

Membrey should get 8 weeks - running back with the flight is the hardest thing to do in our game and all he had to do was go at the footy attempt to mark and he would have cleaned Grimes up good and proper , chose to elbow to the head . Weak dumb dog act .

Won't happen - Saints are this year's fairy tale team ala Bulldogs last year.

And, Gil barracks for the Saints.

Adam Treloar on AFL Today (Fox Sports) just now stating that "the sky's the limit for us (Collingwood)". Good to see reality is still a complete stranger to this guy!

it is Nought's fault we have the other farce, The GC $un$ who are sucking in masses of useless dollars. They too will not survive long term

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
