Viney inj.

Bugg suspended

Wagner & White dropped, maybe stretch too.

Hogan in? Watts prob not, Garlett?

JKH, Kent, Trenners have to be looked at. Going to need Oliver to lift big time, Lewis and Vince need to play more midfield and lift big time.

Better hope Watts, Garlett and Hogan are ready.

We are depleted and Carlton will throw everything at us, backing themselves in for a win.

Wattsy will probably miss another 2 at least. Had a setback at training

Will Corey Maynard be given a run in the guts with Viney injured?  Might be worth a look.

I'm seeing some say Watts had a setback at training, yet he was interviewed and said he was a big chance to play next weekend.  I don't know what to believe.

Injuries are absolutely killing us right now. Typical that only our most promising and important players seem to be dropping like flies on a weekly basis. Typical Melbourne [censored] luck, in a season that looks as close to finals as we've had in a decade.

Why is Tyson being suggested as an out??

BenKen is a good replacement for Viney. The club may go with JKH just to reward performance (he has been performing well). I would probably go with BenKen. He does bring a lot of grunt. Viney out we need that grunt. We lacked it tonight. JKH could probably even come in for Dom Tyson. I thought Tyson was mediocre. Whether JKH would be better is another question. Looks poor at AFL level, but probably deserves a couple of full games in the middle to determine where he is at in our plans. I do suspect JKH will be better than Tyson, and I would play him ahead of Tyson. Why? He involves others. Tyson doesn't. Dom Tyson is slow, and he doesn't have great awareness. One of the better players in the wet we have had at our club though.

Mitch White is a really poor user of the football. But I haven't seen enough of him to know if that is just a first game thing, or whether that is actually normal for him. He did show good pace though. Surprisingly he is quite quick. He may be a player, but he isn't a player right now. Based on tonight his level is Casey. I do think it was worth playing him though, but perhaps not ahead of Jack Trengove - who is a better user of the football, and could have pushed forward, allowing Hunt to roam the back line. We didn't expose Sydney's talls. Run out of the backline does that. We didn't do that, and it was evident we should have.

Give johnstone or kielty a go, really need to see if our depth players are up to scratch

a Rookie tall and a forward pocket who does not kick goals are not the players you are looking for

Unfortunately we have seen tonight that they are not, at least not yet.

Viney and Bugg certain outs, Tyson possibly. White ought to be dropped, Wagner too.

Hopefully Garlett and Hogan are ready, so there's two. I doubt we have three more who are good enough so I suspect Wagner will stay at least.

Big week for Casey.

Best available, whoever's left.

Very glad we scraped through last week because this could be a tough month while we get our injury list back in order.

We had zero forward pressure tonight along with a lack of forward options, someone's gotta get on the park and I'd rather give them a shot than someone like jkh and trengove who have continually shown they're not up to it

I don't see how. Because they're both small? No

Intent. They both have absolute intent to get that football. They will both put their body on the line. BenKen is similar to Viney. BenKen is the most similar player to Viney that we have on our list. Does that guarantee him a game? NO. But if both Jones and Viney are out next week - then BenKen should come into the frame. Tonight we got smashed around the contests. It was embarrassing. Providing BenKen goes well at Casey I'd expect he will be in next week.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
