Changes v Sydney Swans

Shocked to find out that with 5 days to go, nobody has started a thread on this vitally important topic.

What's Watts' chances of a return for his milestone game?

Would Weed be considered?

Can JKH and ANB fit in the same team?

These and many others need answering.

Pronto.

Goodwin said Watts should play.

Out: Salem, Garlett

In: Watts, Kent

Weid to play in the VFL until he kicks bags consistantly.

I love Kent but he doesn't contribute emough consistantly to our immense pressure game. Hopefully he kicks a few and increases his trade value.

I don't really want to ponder outs at the moment, but Watts is a definite in and from the outcome of the Casey game, Kent, JKH, Kennedy and Weideman all in form to warrant selection as spots become available.

Sounds like injury has hits again - Salem and Garlett must be in doubt.

Any news on Viney's shoulder?  And knowing the MRP his contesting the mark may cost him, though IMO it was accidental, in play.

JKH could get Garlett's spot - an opportunity to show his wares in his best position.

Wagner for Salem.

Watts for some unfortunate foot soldier

I think Viney's injury is an AC. I had a similar one about 12 years ago.  I'm pretty sure he will play, might need some pain killers though.

Doubt that he'd be in trouble for the hit on Hurn, both were going for the ball -you can see Jack looking at the ball trying to take possession in the air.

I am worried about next week. Salem would appear to be out. Jeffy couldn't run in that last quarter at all. Captain Jack must be in doubt for either the shoulder or the hit on Hurn. Watts may not get up in time. Then there are the niggles we don't know about. Plus, that was a damned tough game of football with only a 6 day turnaround ahead. Sydney look like getting McVeigh back so virtually full strength.

Worst case scenario, Salem, Jeffy, Captain Jack all out. Watts, Hoges and Nate still injured. JKH and Kent would be my immediate choices with either BenKen or maybe Corey Maynard.

Jeffy looked sore, and Salem clearly has some issues.

Wagner and Jkh come in. Not sure if Wattsy will be available.

A rampaging Swans outfit will smash us if Jeffy, Salem and Jack miss.

Goodwin mentioned that Garlett had hamstring tightness but its not a strain. He may come up for next week depending on how he recovers. I'd say Salem is more of a worry. Watts was touch & go this week so he should be ok after being rested. You would think Viney would play as well, general consensus seems to be that an AC joint is a manageable injury.

Massive selectors' headache for the Swans game. Probably need to wait until Tuesday to see who visits for scans, who trains, who is only doing light running etc... But a lot of players are in form, maybe as many as 30, so some unlucky sod is going to miss out.

At the moment, the possibles looks like:

OUT - Salem, Garlett

IN - Watts, JKH/Wagner

Having said all that, I was way off the mark with the injuries to Jones and Watts last week so its just a flying stab in the dark really. But then, this is Demonland...

Jones

Viney

Hogan

Watts

Garlett

Salem

Brayshaw

Vanders

We could be missing nearly half of our projected first-18 from the start of the season and still we might go in as favourites v, last year's grand-finalists.

Yet I still think we can win, we are no longer relying on players but instead place holders, doesn't matter your name just play your role.

Seems the players aren't the only ones with belief

I think injuries/niggles will be a revolving door due to this 6 day break. Would expect Watts and maybe someone else to cover Salem and potentially Garlett.

Play Hannan deep with Watts and Pedo. JKH can play Hannan's HHF/midfield role.

Tmac on Buddy

Pedo ruck support

Maybe OMac comes out if Garlett and Salem are right? Omac was pretty poor last night and was ineffectual against Petrie or McGovern. I know his form has been better, but Buddy could break records on him. Heeney would be too quick for him and Reid is suited to Frost.

Don't rate JKH. ANB and Bugg will do as small forwards

Hope Garlett pulls up OK today though

Don't rate JKH either but watched yesterday and he was very good and it was against the top side

Something a little worrying talking about possible changes on a Sunday when we should be bathing in the glory of Saturday night!

This week I don't mind waiting for the MRP, Misso's spin and our guys saying Garlett, Salem and Viney are all fit to play only for them not to be selected!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
