There should be one out there in TV land, hopefully it'll turn up on one of the programs. 

I'm living in the UK now, only being able to watch this streamed on my TV is the first time I really wish I was back home! I would've love to hear that roar in person as it sailed through the big sticks!

Just as an aside a moment I did get from the broadcast, Neale Daniher was interviewed at the quarter time and at the end of it he cried out "Go Dees". Gave me goosebumps, he still has love for the club.

On Oscar - he had 8 touches in the first half because he kept getting in the right position and intercepting. Yes his decision making is terrible but cannot fault the way he makes it to contests and always seems to be the one back there reading the play. Just need to make sure one of our leaders is next to him at all times.

So the irate pies fan complains that the umpires treat them as "stupid". Maybe I have been under estimating the umpires until now. Just watched the replay again and the pies fans were calling "ball" even before we were tackled in some instances. They were clearly trying to rev their players up as they know how intense we treat this game. Just love Q.B.

Coaches often talk about courage and the courage to run when you're spent.  Watts was remarkable in this respect yesterday.  One wonders if the training camp they went to before Christmas was the genesis of that ability - to just run when you can't.

Great moment for Jack, great moment for every Melbourne supporter and I suspect a great moment for all football supporters other than the Pies.

It won't get the plaudits it really deserves. I'm biased of course but it's right up there for goal of the week.

Why ?

Understanding of the moment; the action to gut run and position himself, to commit to the play.. it's do or die, its brickbats or bouquets.

To know the weight of that moment, to own it, to do it.

There's definitely something satisfying about hearing their crying and claims of it being "fixed". If that's the case then the Pies are in on it too, why else would they give up a 28pt lead so easily!

Unless, maybe could it just be that we are just a better team than them at the minute?

They are kidding themselves blaming the umpiring. There didn't seem to be any bizarre calls that were just plain wrong, it was just decisions that were there went our way when on another day they wouldn't. 

If I'm being picky the two at the end that I thought we were lucky on were the holding the ball paid to us in defence for the Pies player "diving on the ball". I didn't agree with it at the time, I felt it was heat of battle picking up the ball and falling from pressure. Definitely could've been a ball up.

And the other was I think Bugg pushed the Pies player has he kicked it and it affected the kick. Again, another day it might've been paid. But the fact there isn't a massive descrepency in the numbers shows it wasn't biased one way. 

Pies fans just need someone else to blame. And for what it's worth I actually think Buckley coached pretty well yesterday. When they executed the spreading and the switching properly they looked dangerous, but as our pressure grew their disposal started to falter and the 50/50's that they were winning in the first half went the other way in the second. 

It'll be interesting to see what happens with him at the end of the year, but I don't think he's a hopeless coach. I think he was thrust into it too quickly, much like Voss.

Very unfair of the pies fans to single out the umpires like that.

Ron Burg's description was spot on. Time stood still. That's what it felt like at the ground. Watching on replay I was surprised by how many players were in our forward 50. At the time it felt like he was the only one on the ground.

A moment that will live for years.

It doesn't help that fast Eddy and guys like Gubby Allen make headlines .

I was wondering who was 'chasing' wattsy. Then i listened to the last 5 mins 3aw call linked above (ta btw). It was adams. Succesful clubs have players who gut run and kick critical goals.

Watts, with ball in hand, laconically moved into the forward 50 looking for pass options. Jones was on. Bugg was on. Not sure he saw either of them. Garlett was in the goal square but was well covered. Watts was on a tight angle. And yet he kept inching towards the goal square, almost begging for a Pie player to approach him so he could give it off.

And then he seemed to realise that it was he who had to do it. He had to kick the winner. At that moment, he seemed to slow down, focus on the goal, and steady himself. It was like the bomber in the Dam Busters knowing that he had just one attempt and he simply had to hit the target. Civilisation depended on it.

And he nailed it!

A truly seminal moment in his career. A truly memorable footy moment for the rest of us.

I still get nervous watching it on replay, which I have about 350 times.

 

Bugger the newsreading, Ron, you should take up lyric poetry! The thing I remember most about that last few minutes was the continuous and surging noise, like about 70,000 people were saying "Oh yes!" and "Oh [censored]!" but not simultaneously, so all you could hear was this eerie semi-background garble that rose and fell with the play. A couple of times I thought the Pies were out and were going to nail a goal on the run to put them ahead, only for some act of desparation by one of ours to keep us in it. Then there came "that" play'; as soon as OMac dribbled the kick forward, you could hear the Dees fans exclaim "Oh!", seeing the break in the play and the chance to surge forward. Then I remember seeing Watts come sprinting out of nowhere to make position, and the surging roar as the ball landed near him, and sat up neatly .. and then he was off, with the crowd urging him on for what seemed like an age. The Pies defence didn't run at him for some reason, and sensing this, he seemed to keep running forward until he pretty much had to kick the goal, and of course did. The roar that followed is probably still echoing around the stands ...

The moaning of the Filth about the umpiring, Hannan taking out Dunn and Watts sticking it up them after he scored the goal made it one of the sweetest victories I've seen. Love it.

His impact on the contest is amazing. Just wait til he really heats up.  A 30 possession, 5 goal game will come soon enough.

Howe threw the ball more than Cameron Smith and none of them were pinged so I'm not buying the umpire bs. 

Taylor Adams was hilariously bad. Disposal, decision making, immortalising Jack Watts... hope he talks it up next time we play too. 

Watts' goal and reaction just gets better the more you watch it. Hopefully that footage is all that's brought up every QB now. From memory Watts has played very well in the last 3 Collingwood games. 

Oliver and Salem's 2nd halves were excellent. Whether it was instruction or Oliver's instinct the fact the he started kicking the ball out of congestion changed the game. Prior to that the Pies were all just hanging on the outside and feeding off us all going to the ball. 

Hibberd is a godsend and Tyson should be kissing his feet. 

Loved Hannan's attack on the ball and man. Happy that Dunn got up. But equally happy Hannan put his knee through his lungs. 

Petracca and Garlett were so dynamic it was so fun to watch. 

Apart from Oscar's 2 left foot blunders I thought he was very good. 

Great win and one of the most enjoyable replays you could care to watch. Edit: apart from hearing Tim Watson. How anyone can take him seriously when he tries to talk tactics after being one of the worst coaches of all times is beyond me. The guy is an idiot.
