Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I deal with depression every now & then in my life, not necessarily more than a lot of people. I feel like it's quite a bit, but I don't really know. Maybe it's just normal.

I've suffered from it, badly in the past, but I've been pretty much free of it for years on end now & I feel lucky for that. My wife has suffered from it terribly and still does frequently, although it is better now that I have learned to help her manage it better (and completed a course on emotional intelligence as part of my CPD, which as surprisingly helpful despite seeming elementary at the time).

For some reason I'm floored by Fasolo's revelation. I know it is foolish of me, but I really just didn't think he was the type. Seemed a happy, bouncy (even cocky) fella and I'm sad to hear he is doing it hard.

If anything, I'm thankful he is open about it and seeking help, and also for the timely reminder that I should never assume someone is safe from the black dog in spite of appearances.

(terribly self indulgent post, but I felt like sharing)

Good to see more players are acknowledging their problem and seeking help - a real cultural shift in the game and the community.

This.

It would take so much strength and courage to acknowledge this and seek the help you need. Tragic that so many still suffer in silence.

Good luck Alex but I don't ever recommend transferring to MFC or you'll know what " battling mental demons " really means !

I for one am glad that players are open to having the media (and thus the public) be aware of what they are experiencing. The more exposure, the less stigma. I for one remember Nathan Thompson talking about depression on The Footy Show (must be 10 years ago now) and tearing up - not for him, but for the acknowledgement that the more we speak, the more it creates change and a willingness to seek help...and not have to suck it up.

It is a really sad thing to see, I feel for Faz. Outwardly he comes across as a confident young fella, but it would seem inwardly he is struggling and a lot of it has to do with the scrutiny we place on our players in this digital world.

It`s a timely reminder to all the keyboard warriors out there.  Jordan Lewis said that all the young players read all the forums and various social media platforms. “That has no doubt had an effect on players and their mental health.”

We all get upset when we lose a match or see a player stuff up, but some of the insults thrown around are downright disgraceful. They are human beings and many of them barely adults.

Please give this some thought before you post nasty, unnecessary, negative comments towards the players. It just might be your comment that sends them into darkness.

A mate of mine at the club said Fasolo is struggling to deal with his girlfriend breaking up with him recently...but that situation was somewhat self-inflicted.

I think he is exactly the type. If there even is a type. I have friends like that.

Best of luck to him and well done to him on acknowledging he needed time out. I've never had any personal connection to depression but I feel that accepting you need to look after yourself must be a difficult decision.

Jordan Lewis was saying on AFL360 how most players read everything written about them on social media etc, if that's the case Jack Watts must be strong of character because if anyone has copped it more than anyone else has, he has, on this site and Big Footy some 'supporters' have been merciless. Heard Wayne Schwass say he's careful with what he says about players because you just don't know what they're going through personally. Makes you think, especially with some of the filth you read on some sites, this one included.

Great post Hell Bent.

We see kids and so many young folk that are deeply affected by social media and 24 hour commentary from people who don't know the person or don't care how a careless or critical comment can impact them.

This can lead to anxiety, and in the case of a sportsperson, performance anxiety and depression.  This may not be Fasolo's situation but it is a common problem across society.

I know from first hand experience that anxiety and depression go hand in hand and is a dangerous place to be in.

Mark Robinson is helping Fasolo out apparently.

What a horrible comment he made. And his apology was almost worse.

If you have no idea about a subject either ask some questions or STFU.

Interesting on the AFL website for team announcements:

"Alex Fasolo (Unavailable)"

I would have thought "illness" would be more appropriate.

Not a massive issue, but I reckon "unavailable" isn't the right word.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
