Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 9

OMac and Weid have to go. They are only getting games because of their height. We are playing 2 men down with those 2 in the side.

Kent is an absolute downhill skier. Whenever we get beaten he is down at the bottom of the stats.

The umps were an absolute disgrace. Bernie got punched with a clenched fist to the gut and the ump was 5m away. No free or report. We got 10 frees in a whole game of footy that was as fierce as you will see, They should all be sacked,

Goodwin was thoroughly outcoached today and the coaches box simply had no answers, but the players made his job pretty difficult when they refused to bring any work rate.

This is easy to say 'AF', but what could he have done differently and in what way was he out coached?

I thought our celebrated mids were average today, they've done a good job of roving to opposition ruckmen but North have a pretty tough inside crew as well and they got the armchair ride from Goldy.

What could Goody do here? he rotated a lot through the middle and had a number against Goody but 193cm is not going to beat up on a 200cm AA ruck.

We had passengers on the forward line, he moved Hunt in there and shifted others around.

The moves didn't come off this week, almost did and if they did he would be a genius again.

No, he wasn't thoroughly out coached, we were out played and still have a ways to go until we have the list that will win finals.

Having our 2 most important players, at least structurally, out doesn't help.

Gave Nichols a spray.

I encourage you all to do the same.

Thought i read Cunnington's lips saying to Petracca at 3Qtr time about what have Melbourne done to this White ant to get such a raw deal, and Petracca said about how this number 15 is so unpleasant he was thinking about joining the KKC because he thought they must be friendly....

They tagged Oliver and we were  unprepared for it. With Vince tagging Higgins we only had one effective mid, and Goldstien just kept hitting to their free   Midfielder.

North also tackled ferociously all day and were clearly on a mission.

We looked tired after last weeks mammoth effort and our lack of height and outside run were telling.

Also a real shame the umpires weren't at the standard today

No, they didn't tag Oliver.

They just got the better of the midfield battle to day.

Really well said, rjay.  Goodwin is doing all he can - he even shifted McDonald into the ruck to start the last term and was happy to swing some changes when he felt it was required.

Goodwin, as you said, wasn't outcoached.  We were outplayed and there is a big difference.

Um I think brown jkh over Brown is worth noting, Yea Hunts great but the poster has a worthy point.

Ok, so maybe I missed the point? That we need a lead up full forward? We have one of those and I'd take him over Brown everyday.  Prior to the draft Brown was seen as a ruckman and we had Gawn and Spencer in that bucket too.

Or was his point that literally every other club let Brown go too because there was concerns over how much work was required to get him to AFL standard as a mature age big man?

Hindsight is 20/20, but you have to be a genius passed pick 40 in any draft.

They sure made sure his run at the ball was impeded even though it wasn't a traditional one on one tag, but more a team directive

How can you come to this conclusion?

I can recall 6 attempts at goal for a return of 4 behinds. He was horrific.

3 of his attempts I can recall were 20m out pretty much directly in front.

I'm glad he's a fringer, because he's the biggest down hill skier you'd ever see.

I thought Buggy was alright today as well.  He gets himself in good positions, as evidenced by his four shots on goal, and if he's more accurate then it's a great game, not just a good one.  His accuracy hurt us, but at least he was giving us something at that end when many others weren't.

And I know it's been said many times, but Michael Hibberd has just been super for us since he's come into the side.  Exceeding all expectations so far.

Vince doesn't get frees because the umpires know he's the boy that cried wolf.  Throws his head back and drops to the ground whenever someone touches him, so of course he's not going to get the ones he deserves. Get over it. We have bigger problems.

He got punched in the stomach and went off vomiting. In the outside world that's assault.

No matter which way you look at it, it's a free kick and a suspension.

Why do we persist with a zone defence late in games when the tide is against you.

We gave them the space to drop into and create opportunities.

What is WRONG with manning up at times and shutting players down ?

Any team that can switch back and forth will have the tempo of a game in THEIR control.

Seldom do we control games.

Surely you mean his kicking was horrific, many forwards wouldn't achieve 6 shots on goal.

We got Hibberd 100% right and he's been outstanding.

Melksham and Lewis I'm really on the fence about. We need them both to step up over the next 2 months when mature bodies really come to the fore and the kids get tired.

What Garry Lyon said after the Hawthorn game is so on the money. We let this bottom feeder club sprint ahead, chase them down till nearly level, let them sprint ahead again, chase them down again to level and then let them sprint away again. Serious, serious attitude problem that won't go away.

Melksham I agree with, but I'm more on the positive side with Lewis.  Thought he was better today and kicked a real leader's goal in the last that we didn't capitalize on.  But he still needs to get better.

No it wasn't.

I think the Adelaide win papered over a few cracks.

We're not good enough with Hoges and Max out to win consistently. Simple.

...and even with them in out list is not well balanced. It's getting there but still has a ways to go.

I'm sure the FD know this (we're not Richmond...please) and will address things over the next year or 2...

Fair point. To me it was a double wammy as Brown always kills us and Im not a great jkh fan.Other than that we have done some awesome recruiting that needs to be tweaked as Im sure it will.

Disagree, same shyte we dished up last season against mediocres  also with Gawn and Hogan playing BTW.

Not even joking, have thought it for years

Rarely do I have a crack at umpires for our boggy performances, however Nichols today should be called out as pathetic and utterly error ridden.  Actually he  was worse than that and his bald head should be forced into a bucket of warm horse poo.

Watts was fine, he showed poise forward of centre but the North backs dictated terms v our forwards for much of the game.

No Watts was rubbish

Squibbed alot of contests and refuses to stick his arms out to mark the ball. I watch Darcy Moore play who is skinnier then Watts and he crashes packs and flys for the ball at all costs with his arms out in front. Watts just refuses to do any of this and hes a 145 game veteran.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
