For all the talk of them being 2 down...it was only one down.

GWS put the kid back on that was concussed and he didn't look right.

I hope they get hammered for this but doubt the AFL will do anything about it.

Hopper playing with one hand,Wilson concussed,Kennedy gone. Add Coniglo and Shiel underdone along with Whitfield,Buntine,Whitfield,Greene and Deledio all missing, amongst others, let's keep this win in perspective.

Well done StKilda. GWS were there to be beaten and were. They probably have the worst injury list in the comp. I don't give a crap about GWS  as they have been built up by $$$ and have not been made to earn their spot. Think back to the days were Hawthorn, StKilda, North Melbourne and Footscray spent years in the comp before anything happened for them.

Jack Stevens was awesome.

God knows why they didnt play Acres against us in round 1.

Greshem looks like a great little forward and Roberton has gone to another level.

There is something about Billings that simply doesn't impress me. I have no idea what it is as he was prolific tonight.

Agree. No love lost for GWS but the fact is they are currently decimated by injury and suspension along with criticall in game injuries. StKilda only missing Armitage. No doubt anywhere near full strength Giants flogs this StKilda team.

Not sure if you are answering my post here but as you quoted it I can only guess you are.

What's perspective got to do with pointing out GWS may have put a kid back on with concussion...it will be interesting to see the doctors report to the MRP on the Stevens tackle. I'm not to sure they are interested in the duty of care they have to their players.

I could care less about the Saints win or perspective...

Might be a point on Wilson but other facts are inescapable. StKilda are building but not in the class of an anywhere near full strength GWS outfit.Even allowing for Wilson. Kennedy and Hopper down killed them as did Smith and Spencer for us v Richmond. Reverse the injury list between Saints & Giants and there is no contest.*Please note I despise GWS but facts are facts.

- Scully is wasteful, only even bombs the ball in, but isn't damaging.

- Cameron needs to kick straighter.

- Zac Williams had a nightmare of a game.

- Seb Ross is developing into a damaging mid for St Kilda.

- Gresham is going to be a top liner in the next couple of years, very talented.

- Injuries happen in football matches and people need to accept that. It is football. These things happen.

Not sure who you are arguing with 'Martin' but I'm not disagreeing with you that St Kilda got lucky tonight.

However GWS were only one rotation down as I pointed out, it was not the same situation as ours against the Tiges...Hopper played on with a dislocated finger which is not unusual in football. He just didn't do it well...

As you say "facts are facts"

Almost as good as Aaron Daveys. Mark Maclure agrees with you.

Not sure any StKilda player had a dislocated finger(suspected broken) or any injury for that matter. They're blessed atm..Even if u discount Wilson & Hopper (which I don't) one rotation down for nearly three quarters is massive in modern football. Add to the fact that Kennedy is quality and the aforementioned extensive injury/suspension list the the result has a massive asterisk. Withdraw six of StKilda's best and insert the Giants missing 6+ quality players and it's a 10 goal + win for GWS. 'Facts are facts'.

Got home late tonight, so I just watched the St Kilda / GWS replay.

St Kilda brought some very good pressure, but, gee, if they didn't beat GWS tonight, they were never going to beat them.

GWS had a man down from the first half and they completely ran out of legs in the final quarter.

I have questions over the St Kilda game style too. Looks okay if the other team can't run out the game and St Kilda get a run on, but not sure they have the talent to make the 8 this year.

Although, when you get some confidence up, you never know what could happen.

Acres is their Harmes. He runs hard, can really rack them up, but his ball use can let him down. I rate him and reckon he'll turn into a solid B grader if he can fix his disposal. He'll be a bit in and out of the team until he improves this. He usually kills us, so I was glad to see him named as an emergency against us.

Gresham is going to be a star though. The next Milne. Absolute gun. May well drift through the midfield at a point too.

Jack Steven is a good player and he can hurt you on the outside, but he too is wasteful with his ball use (his efficiency is exactly the same as Tyson's - 66% DE).

I look at the St Kilda list and in particular their midfield, and I see an aging Montagna, a 27 year old Steven, Ross (a ball magnet and hard runner, but limited by foot), Acres, Dunstan (a hard nut, but his disposal also lets him down), Steele (an okay player, but not sure he has a weapon), an almost 29 year old Armitage and Newnes (a solid mid). They're not a deeply talented midfield. They're workmanlike. Steven offers a bit of x-factor and pace to an otherwise one-paced midfield, but lets himself down with the aforementioned sloppy disposal. St Kilda's problem is, if they don't bring 100% pressure, they get well beaten. A bit like, I suspect Richmond and ultimately, I can't see them having enough talent to win a flag in the long run.

Was thinking the same thing watching it. Against a bloody good side, on Friday night at home ground. Terrible.

Woeful. The Saints fans were exposed by having very few opposition supporters there. But still, you should be pulling at least 30k.

Saints are a great side! I think that they are not far off being considered in the same class as GWS and Doggies. They are slightly ahead of us I feel due to their better field kicking.

I think aside from us replacing the Eagles the top 8 looks almost set.

We got 27k against Freo. Would have got 30k easily last night at the 'G against the Giant.

We have Queen's Birthday, ANZAC Eve, and a few other really good prime time spots. That's the logic. Saints don't have much in terms of "blockbusters".

Giants had an off night. Saints at home did ok. Their season to date save last night's win hasn't been that flash really. Going ok for sure, but really just OK.

Be interesting to see if they can string more games together.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
