If we beat Saints round 1 I will ...

...not be surprised

be happy !

Happily post on this website every  positive act Jack Watts contributed that led to the win

Be pleased, but also accept it as standard. We need to beat teams around and below us to make finals, and those bastards have been beating up on us for far too long!

Pray we start the year off well and build momentum. We have a good run and could go 5-1 IMO

Clear September in the diary

... leave Etihad in a happy mood for a change.

Believe it when I see it. I'm still recovering from Toumpas mucking it up in the goalsquare when we led in the last minute.

Expect to win.

G Lyon said it last week. He is right

don't celebrate, expect.

Join (probably) everyone here in a few hearty renditions of 'The Grand Old Flag'.

not be surprised  and wait to see what happens in the following four matches.

The reality is that if we cannot win games such as the one against St Kilda we have not improved

Dwayne Russell is commentating the game (heard him mention it today on 3AW with a Tom McDonald interview). So perhaps watching the replay on mute if we win?

This is the sort of game we will find a way to lose.

We actually have to find a way to win. Our record against them at ES is abysmal. Our record at ES against other teams is terrible as well.

Saints smashed Blues by 92 points compared to our 54 point win. They are travelling well at the moment.

They are the favourite against us in round 1.

Be very happy and look forward to getting more monkeys off our collective backs.

Absolutely NO reason that we should not win over Saints at Docklands, AND beat North, and Essundone, AND Carlton, AND make finals and win some.

Belief, believe!

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
