Did anyone hear exactly what the injury is and what the prognosis is?

It would be a shame to lose him but with Hibberd to come in and Joel Smith showing promising signs I think our depth for backmen can cover the loss.

Hopefully he's back on the park early in the season.

Dislocated his fibula.

Does anyone know how long he could be out for?

Proximal tib - fib dislocation. Feel the bone on the side of your knee just below the joint. That's the head of your fibula. It joins the tibia there.

Depends on how it settles but might only be off legs for a few days or a week and can start rehab. Hopefully under a month.

I'm not an expert but I think if the scan shows it's all back and place and no damage then it will just be the usual, rest, immobilisation, ice, gradual build up of exercise until he's back. Wagner battled through a knee last year so even if unrelated they might take a bit of time to maybe strengthen him up but that's just a guess.

Most likely rest him rest of jlt

I suspect after a week of light duties he'll come back through the rehab group. He'll have to fight for his spot again.

Glad to hear it was a dislocation and not a break. Wagner will be handy when fit this season, especially if form dips from any of the back 6.

Agree.  Pretty unfortunate timing for a setback for him; competition will be fierce in his area of the ground.  On the opposite side of the coin, fortuitous timing for Joel Smith who probably just jumped a spot up the pecking order.  Hibberd still to return too.

Depends on the extent of soft tissue damage, assuming the bone is unharmed. If he hasn't badly disrupted the ligaments securing the superior tib-fib joint, then it's a 2 to 3 week deal. Imaging this week will tell. Chronic instability is the thing to avoid.

Once scans are done id imagine we'll be able to extrapolate his fortune by observing the where and how of any participation in training.

The club plays super cautious now. I still wouldn't think to see him in the next two jlt...why risk...for what !!

Doubt hell now find himself ahead of other candidates come Saints. But he is well thought of by the coaches.

He'll play in 17...maybe not at many games as previously anticipated.

As Webber suggests. Depends on damage. Didn't look super bad. Fibula's an odd thing. Better off breaking than dislocation.

Suffered the injury myself a couple of times but I was lucky. Never missed a single game of AFL football as a result. Then again, I'm a spectator and not a player.

WTF?

Presumable upper end or it would be called as ankle, but upper end could compromise the lateral knee ligament which could be a problem.

Any insiders here who could elaborate?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
