Correct!

They're of zero worth when we come second.

Agree. However if we should win all 3 then it is is sure sign we are finals bound......

I'm glad the Dogs have named a strong side. Falling over the line against the Pups again and then having the club and some on here cheering the victory doesn't interest me.

I hope they serve up a strong contest with their style of pressure around the ball and fast movement because that will really test our structural weaknesses.

And we'll be winning the flag when we win one.  There's never any in between - we are either doomed for bottom 4 if we lose on Saturday or destined for a top 4 finish if we win.

One I'll be taking I think.  If we lose on Saturday then 'Watts would have made us a 6 goal better side' is what I'll be going with for the rest of the weekend.

Excellent.

And if we win, by say a goal, i'll say we would have won by 7 goals if Wattsy had played (and 10 if the umpires had not given the doggies an armchair ride)

Good to see us and Dogs have comparably strong line ups. should be a tight contest and will get the blood pumping again

Johnstone if kept in, will see this as his chance to steal an unliekly fwd pocket spot if he sparks

it will be great to see JT play and see Weed and Hoges along side each other

I'm predicting Tracca to have chins wagging after the game - the blokes a machine

Not sure you are correct about Petracca,    hope you are of course   But the others "Bring it On"   Go Dees !!!

Aren't we allowed to,play the rookies (Keilty/Smith)?

Nope they are, that's why Joel Smith is listed.

Another thing to note is for week 1 and 2, teams are allowed up to 8 interchange players with unlimited rotations so we should only see 2 of the 28 players dropped before the game.

Mark Stevens is a little late with his "news" re Smith.

Winning these challenges is largely irrelevant , but losing horrendously can be a portent of things to come.

I think we'll be competitive and look forward to seeing an advanced game style and tangible progress from individuals.

I would say if we are ahead at any stage in the first quarter, the flag is in the bag.

Gee. This wouldn't be far from the likely predictions for a 'best team by the end of the year' sort of thing. Plus Watts and Tyson. Kent and Jetta absent but there are many questioning their future inclusion already. Pretty exciting to see Salem, Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Hunt, Stretch and Weid all in the same team.

Jack Watts not a notable absentee according to the AFL website, but a no gamer from the Lions is?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
