Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah seems like he's been written off. Hopefully for his sake he can play a role as he'll likely be gone after his contract ends at this rate.

Also the idea of the combined kicking and decision making skills of Frost, Oscar and Tom McDonald wasn't all that appealing, it should be more so as they get more experience.

Whilst I think we'll improve overall next year, I still see our kicking efficiency and lack of really great users being a killer for us during games, especially against the best sides.

I still think we're far too hit and miss.

It still amazes me that Nathan Jones has really been the only player to go from being an ordinary user of the ball to one of our most reliable users. We need many more to take a similar trajectory including Brayshaw, Viney, Tyson, Petracca, Kent etc.

We've "imported" a couple of great kicks, so hopefully they can not only improve our kicking on game day but also start to show the younger lads how to improve your foot skills.

Laying down the challenge, if he is good enough he can win his spot back but it won't be easy

I love Viney but his kicking action is way too far gone. I'm confident in saying that he will never be a consistently damaging kick, especially over 40m. He could well improve his short kicking but his disposal by foot is easily the biggest weakness in his game. Doesn't mean he isn't a gun though.

Hibbard, Salem and Lewis should go a ways to fixing the problem 'steve'.

...and I would expect a few of the kids to improve this aspect of their game, especially Brayshaw also think Hunt will lift further in 2017.

Agree, no doubt it's an area we need to keep working on though.

edit: Oliver is also a very good user by foot, hopefully he uses this part of his game to more advantage at AFL level in 2017.

I'm not sure he'll get to Jones level of improvement and certainly not over distance, but he kicks the ball with a lot more punch at trainings now than he did a few years ago. Hopefully he keeps improving because the burst of speed away from contests he showed in 2016 deserves to be finished off with a kick not waiting for team mates to handball to.

I believe that Petracca's kicking is already above average. He can improve of course, but he will be putting the ball on a sixpence in no time flat ( that's 5c for you young people ) He is cool under pressure and usually selects the right option.

I Think CP5 has a tendency to try to kick it too hard. Which means he sprays the occasional one or even kick a bit of a straight floater. But as a whole I agree he is a good kick. Bright side is that tendency is easily trained out with experience.

Describing someone as a "pretty good player" doesn't sound that good. It's like using "average" and "ordinary" to mean anything but. Hopefully McCartney was using it literally.

I think McCartney is pretty straight up and with Hulett the reality might be that he doesn't have the athleticism, size or special traits to be a great player, but if he develops well as McCartney says he can mark and kick and can make a pretty nice depth or 2nd/3rd option. Not sure why he wasn't training this morning, but I'm keen to see how he goes at Casey this year and if he can get consistency in his VFL performances.

Same was said of his dad early in his career, but Todd did work on it and did become pretty reliable in his disposal.

As I remember, Todd was a far worse kick at the start than is Jack.

The boy has elite punch in his kick.

I watched Todds entire career with the Dees and Jack is definitely a better kick, perhaps with a little less penetration.

Hang on, it wpould be an outstanding recruiting selection if Hulett turns into a pretty good player given he was taken very late in the Draft and was only expected to be a Rookie selection to the Saints before we jumped in with one of the last picks.

Hulett was picked up earlier in the draft than Tom McDonald, Oscar McDonald and Jadyen Hunt, off the top of my head to name just a few, so he was hardly pick 86 or the like.

He would be expected to keep his gradual progression of improvement up this year and push for a spot mid-late year I'd imagine

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
