Where's the evidence for this? It may well be true, but I haven't seen it.

I seem to remember some comment from players on a video to the effect that his personal life had taken a turn for the worse in some way, but that he was loved and repse ted among his team mates. I may be wrong, but I have ended up with this strong belief in some way.

It's not just the distance that Dunn kicks that's impressive, but the power and accuracy. It's the best way to dismantle a forward press by the opposition. I think the Dunn haters are being disingenuous with their assessment of Dunn's kicking on Sunday.

We had Bernie Vince in the backline for a large part of the season, and I always thought that he was one of the best kicks at the club. For the most part, his kicking was deplorable out of defence.

I have to agree, so many times melbourne has had trouble getting it out of defense because of the oppositions press, Dunny kicks it way out onto the wing in most cases, so it is close the the boundary so we can push it across if needed so that we can reset, it is a necessary action to beat the high press.  now days we are seeing people do small kicks across the back line and from side to side like they are playing ping pong, I like dunny's style, kick the crap out of it and get it as far away from the goal his is defending. I thought his game on the weekend for casey was excellent. Would be disappointing to see him leave, but the competition of spots in the backline is hotting up. he will be missed as he has been a pretty good team man.

i'd prefer to hang onto Dunny as a bit of back up if he's only going to net a fourth round pick, open to offering him up with something else as a pick upgrade or something

could we bundle Dunn and our third rounder for their second rounder?

SEN today were saying that Brisbane have been shopping Rockliff around and nobody is biting.  Sounds like we may be able to get a bargain there.  I'm sure they'd prefer to keep their picks and move on an unwanted player...  :)

Dunn, Garland and Dawes and the deal is done.

Brisbane would be laughing if they could grab Dunny for a fourth round pick.

I'd much prefer to keep him, but if his opportunities here have dried up then he should probably go. He's too good to be languishing in the VFL.

At 29 I think early third round is about right.

when a club with little talent wants to trade their Captain it tells you something is up, clearly he's rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

He isn't worth much more than a 4th rounder or upgrade somewhere, but would be of value to the right club if he found his mojo.

If someone wants him and he wants to go there the club will make it happen whether we get something or not.

How about the Melbourne FC.

We need a strong marking forward that can pinch hit in the ruck.

Dunn should be given a preseason to become this player.  He has the attributes, and does not pose the same liabilities that he currently does to the gameplan.  He may actually offer more than what is currently on the market - he can out-Dawes Dawes, I'd reckon, and his leadership and experience could be valuable to the young heads in the forward line.

One year extension, with the opportunity to be the hit up big kicker that could be really useful to our game plan.

Yes if he found his mojo, I think it depends on whether bridges are burned or not, I get the feeling that there is tension in the relationship.

Doubt he'd be 10th in line to be the pinch hitter in the ruck, I don't think he's got much of a vertical leap at all. That said I wouldn't be surprised if is on the list next year if they try and refashion him back into a forward or at the least a permanent swing man (Pederson style), rather than a pure back-man like he's become over the last few years.

Also in contract so no extension needed, he'll either stay, be traded or be paid out although I think we might have gone past those days.

Add Terlich or Newton and get their first?

How could anyone seriously think that Terlich will be traded anywhere. Why would any other club waste money on him? He reminds me of an optional extra on cars like GT stripes or spoilers They simply don't add anything to thepackage

Swap him to the Saint'rs,  plus 2017 2nd Rnd pick for Billy Longer.

maybe 'rubbed'... past tense? possibly damage has been dunn before now.

He should be OK as a player, as long as he drops the beamer scharade.  but we do need speed & gut runners.

I think Fifty-5 was having a laugh MD.

Why would Longer leave a team where he's 2nd in line behind one of the best half dozen rucks in the comp to a team where he'll be 2nd in line behind the best in the comp.

And for the record, Longer can't play forward.

Think Dunn is a worse mark than Dawes. One pre-season ain't gonna fix that!

Yeah I agree I still think his steadiness and skill are worth more in a developing side. O Mac still far from convincing for mine, but thats just IMO.

I would rather keep Dunny and jetison Garland!

I don't know, I added a starsky and Hutch stripe to a white HT Holden in the late seventies and the girls thought I was a sensation!!

Sad for Dunny, he stated that he wanted to be a 1 club player when he re-signed.  Seems a genuinely good bloke and has been with us through the really tough times.  Modern footy...a different world.

If that's all it took there must have been easy pickings for Picket

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
