Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I know we were getting close, Doctor. The plan wasn't to go further, although his wife's tweet does allude to what I've heard.

That's fine, AF.

You're suggesting that 90% of the times he could have influenced the contest, he chickened out (squibbed).

There's been a lot of criticisms of O'Mac, haven't heard that he is a coward. If true, it's amazing that the match committee, his teammates, the opposition, the media, Melbourne supporters, and even opposition supporters haven't noticed it either... truly amazing.

Everyone wanted him dropped most weeks. Yet now I criticise him and he's some kind of gun?

He doesn't pull out from under the contest. He just doesn't put his body on the line. Maybe it will come with time. I don't think he's hopeless, I just don't think he's some kind of special draft pick.

I'm not going game by game for examples and this isn't perfect but look at his contest here to start this vid. His feet aren't even off the ground and big Max expected more.

You could him a squib and got called out on it.  You initiated the O Mac talk,  people rightly pointed it out and now you are trying to backtrack a little. It's only an online forum,  own your mistakes and move on :)

Squib might be too harsh, I'll admit that. Overwhelmingly lacking in the physical presence required for talls was what I meant. If those are different things so be it.

And without speed, strength or skill to mean he's anything more than a promising defender that can be found late in drafts.

Methinks you're right...   unbelievable how much they are willing to sacrifice to get Jaeger O'Meara.  If he continues to never get on the park, it will set them back big time.

I bet when Brad decided to get rid of the 4 players he would never have thought he'd lose wells and now maybe Goldsetin. If they lose him they are going to go down very fast. Its pretty funny. I hope Goldy does go. The nth fans will be fuming.

Geez pick 88 for Mitchell. Best bargain ever.

Please don't include me in the pm about Goldy.....

Why do people need to read about the affairs of others?

The Hawks are playing a very interesting game this trade period and it could well blow up in their faces. That said Jaeger is a brilliant talent, if there can get him on the park he will be dynamite for them.

Wrestling with though emotions here, I really don't wish any ill will on O'Meara but I would love to see the Hawks fall flat on their faces after this trade period.

Pick 88 for Mitchell and the Hawks pay part of his salary. Adam Simpson needs to buy a lottery tick now because that's got to be one of the biggest trade wins ever!

The 9 times out of 10 he had a chance to crash a pack and spoil and meekly raised an arm?

He's got endurance and reads the play well. Can mark and can kick more reliably than his brother but still lacks penetration and touch. But he won't make it if he doesn't learn how to be physical.

He's nothing special and doesn't justify our decision in overpaying for Frost, which was the point of my original comment.

Think you might have a different opinion in 12 months.

The Hawks are dominating the NAB Trade Radio airwaves today -

• Hawthorn champion Sam Mitchell is officially a West Coast player after being traded to the club today, for effectively pick 88.

• The Hawks did get a win though with Sydney midfielder Tom Mitchell today officailly joining the club via a trade with the Swans.

• Hawthorn midfielder Jordan Lewis is no cetainty to be at the Hawks next season after the drama of yesterday. Lewis is livid with the Hawks after they asked if he wanted to be traded, and is believed to be still exploring his options with the Demons.

• The Western Bulldogs are confident impressive first-year defender Marcus Adams will play out his contract despite exploring a possible move home to Western Australia.

• Hawthorn appears closer than ever to securing Gold Coast midfielder Jaeger O'Meara after a trade with the Saints saw them gain pick 10 - a pick which will almost certainly be used in the O'Meara trade.

DONE DEALS SO FAR:

Tyrone Vickery moves from Richmond to Hawthorn as a restricted free agent
Daniel Wells moves from North Melbourne to Collingwood as an unrestricted free agent
Cam McCarthy, pick 7, 34 and 72 move from GWS to Fremantle in exchange for pick 3.
Chris Mayne moves from Fremantle to Collingwood as an unrestricted free agent
Brad Hill traded from Hawthorn to Fremantle in exchange for pick 23
Pick 3 and 16 traded from GWS to Brisbane in exchange for picks 2, 31, 51 and 60.
Jack Steele moves from GWS to St Kilda in exchange for their 2017 future round two pick
Sam Mitchell, pick 54 and 72 traded from Hawthorn to West Coast in exchange for pick 52, 70 and 88.
Tom Mitchell and pick 57 traded from Sydney to Hawthorn in exchange for pick 14 and 52
Pick 10 and 68 traded from St Kilda to Hawthorn in exchange for Hawthorn's 2017 future first pick, and this year's picks 23 and 36

Wow, Hawks involved in half, 5 of the deals, completed so far.

Lewis to me looks like a pretty no nonsense sort of a character. With that in mind i would think he has made up his mind about coming here,  and knows exactly what his worth has pinnacled at, particularly now, to both his Club and to Melbourne (his future home).

He's the sort of bloke whose TV savvy enough to not have this stretch out much longer. Pleased to have him.

To add to this, he joined the Hawks when they were at bottom, watched them grow into 4 time premiers, and he judges us the up and coming team most likely to do the same.

pretty significant.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
