Rockliff, No.   He should leave & go to the Hawks as an in/under.. I think they could settle him down under Clark.

We on the other hand should take Mitchell out of the Hawks thinking.

The Hawks really need Rockliff.

Great if we could do it. He would complete our inside mids. Hibberd and Melksham would help with adding Hunt and Stretch to the outside mids. Mitchell is proven and would be a great get. Surely our list and Goody would excite him, plus some more dollars. Weave your magic Mahoney.

Next year's first pick would be the price.

Looks like we are not after Barlow and Witts can be crossed off as a possible ruck.

FREMANTLE would be open to trading midfielder Michael Barlow to the Gold Coast Suns, according to The West Australian.

Barlow fits the Suns' desire for experienced players.

They are still in the hunt for Pearce Hanley and Jarrod Witts, but have missed out on Lin Jong and Hamish Hartlett.

I reckon their list management guys are earning their money this trade/draft period. They have picks 4, 8, 22, 23, 25 and 28 (six picks in the top 30) and without taking into account what they're asking for in return of O'Meara and Prestia. Like you said, they've got plenty to work with.

Richmond may have to cough up pick 6 at least but the Hawks will be the most interesting trying to secure both Jaeger and Mitchell from the Swans.

I think several clubs will have to get in amongst all of that and help broker a deal to get anything done.

It may well be us.

The problem I see for GC is the number of players they will have to delist to enable them to use their picks, if they get some early picks for trading players that will just compound the problem. If I was their list manager I'd be looking to offload/swap some mid range second round for a couple of picks next year.

If they have, say 8 picks in the top 30, that's 8 players they will have to delist and that doesn't take in to consideration their 3rd and 4th round picks, if they can swap for future selections they'd probably look at that.

What are our thoughts on Amon as a cheap pick up for some outside run?

Played a lot of junior rep footy with Jayden Hunt. They know each other well. We'd get the inside word I suspect.....

Just thinking out loud - GC have a bevy 1st rounders that they're looking to do things with. One of those things needs to be to postpone one to next year to spread. Our next year first for one of their this years first rds would absolutely perfect

Our next years first round would be pick 18 I assume?? :roos:

The 3AW rumour file claimed the other day that there was infighting in the Sydney rooms after the Grand Final. Apparently Hannebery clocked Tippett. Also heard this from another source. If the Swans can manage it, they'll try and offload Tippett. Purely speculating here, but if I were them and I was looking to get rid of him, I'd agree to pay say $200k-$300k of his remaining salary and add the money saved onto Mitchell's contract.

Whether anyone wants to take Tippett off their hands is another thing...

Meh.

Whether you believe it or not, I've got a pretty good source who said it did happen.

Call me a negative Nelly but I hope your source is right and they move him on. Would mean they keep Mitchell and he doesn't end up at the Hawks. It will really give me the absolute s%^ts if they get Mitchell. So much for competitive balance.

The O'Meara one is interesting too. Apparently failed medicals at 3 clubs but the Hawks take him. Sounds like a Darling trick. Make it look bad so you get to where you want to go. Can say to GC well he failed 3 medicals so we aren't giving you what he's worth.

Jack Steele who has been burning it up in the NEAFL for the GWS Giants has asked for a trade to St Kilda.

I like the look of him, he's one I'd hoped that we would look at.

That's a shame. He would've been handy and an upgrade on all our depth midfielders available. He's a talented and well balanced mid and will do well at the Saints if he gets there.

He'd come relatively cheap too. Our 2nd rounder would have got it done.

Would much rather him than Hibberd.

Don't you love it how they say they want to attend BnF's before making any decisions on their future, everyone knew he would req a trade to StK months ago. Would be nice if a decent player not at the end of their career nominated us.

Totally different players at different stages in development. I watched Steele a few times for GWS and he was underwhelming, I don't see where he would play in our side. Sure he would add some depth but I think the Saints are more interested as they know they will need to replace Montagna soon.

Hibberd will be a very good pick up for use and help add experience and stability to our young back line.

Don't think he can fake x rays, ultra sounds and mri's.

Of course they're totally different, I would rather Steele regardless, mainly because he has more than a couple of years left..

We are keeping very quiet aside from Hibberd. Hope we have an iron in the fire.

And interesting that the MFC website has Sheahan suggesting the range of options for pick 26. Surely the Club wouldn't be releasing this if we are committed to use that pick to get Hibberd from EFC. Be great if that was the case (i.e. Trade them Grimes)!

Pretty tricky trying to orchestrate a trade for a bloke we have already delisted

Tyson and Hibberd are more than decent and they nominated us. All of our gun, younger players have re-signed and showed tremendous faith in the direction the club is headed in as well.

Some supporters are never happy and have short memories to boot.

Not really. I understand that they are still officially on our list until 31 October (which is after the Trade Period).

I reckon you're overrating Steele, i don't think he'd have anything like the impact for us that Hibberd will, i reckon he'd only be a fringe player/midfield rotation

Either that or they trade their picks out for youngsters with clear potential and a couple of years in the system such as ANB. It does however eat into our developing depth.

And I think people are underrating Hibberd's impact next year. He might start a little slowly being out of the game for a year, but his kicking will be vital for our half back sling shot.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
