Doiubt we could get both Prestia and Hartlett,, pick 6 will be needed to get either.

Howe and our second rounder to the Suns for Hartlett. Reckon they'd go for that, especially if their cap issues are as such that they won't be able to bring Dixon in without trading Hartlett.

Hartlett's a good player, but certainly not a gun. Doesn't win enough of the ball, and is easily tagged out of a game. That doesn't mean I wouldn't take him at the dees, but he isn't worth pick 6.

JESUS CHRIST. Do you people read what you type? I literally CRINGE when I read some of the suggested trades on here.

If you want a player that is CONTRACTED and you are a team that is hopeless, you need to pay overs.

Remember 3 things when thinking about trades.

1. Nobody wants to come to Melbourne.

2. Nobody wants to come to Melbourne.

3. You have to pay overs in contracts AND in Trades, when are you are team nobody wants to come to.

I would be surprised if we land anyone of his status. Look at the recent history, big clubs or high up the ladder is where they go.

P-6 + watts to Port, for Hartlett & Ports 1st Rnd Pick, = P-10

P-10 + Howe to GCSuns, for Prestia + GCS end of 1st Rnd compo Pick = P-19

Watts, Howe & 6

for

Hartlett, Prestia and 19?

If it sounds like a good deal for us, then we haven't given enough away. Dream outcome.

Then essedun would demand 19 for Melksham.

We'd still be coming out well on top if we traded Watts, Howe & 6 for Hartlett, Prestia and Melksham. That sort of outcome would only happen in my dreams, though

Negativity Negativity Negativity

Bernie Vince ,Jeff Garlett, Lumumba and Dawes came to Melbourne so why not?

We have a stable coaching structure and a great bunch of young kids led by guys by Hogan and Brayshaw.

We also have plenty of money.

If we managed to land Hartlett and Prestia/O'Meara, we actually then have a very competitive midfield.

Add Petracca (and Trengove) to the mix, with another pre-season under Roos/Goodwin.

In the circumstances, I would be disappointed with anything less than finals next year.

Hasn't always played in the midfield and his numbers reflect that.

You have to give something to get something, especially in our position. Hartlett has elite traits and is a proven performer in big games. At 25 he'll still be at a high level when we are ready to be knocking on the door. Pick 6 is a no brainer.

100%.

If Pick 6 equals either a gun kid who may or not be a player OR Hamish Hartlett who will impact for 6 years from round 1 then i know what I'd choose.

I know it's only a rating based on a Supercoach/ DreamTeam style points system, but the AFL site has Hamish Hartlett rated as the 36th best player in the league.

Melbourne's best is Nathan Jones at a distant No. 95. Bernie is 124.

Seriously good player. Would love him to become a Dee. Can't see it happening though. A lot of rumours flying around about many players. Will be an interesting trade period this year.

Fyfe is coming to melb! With him and danger we will have the best midfield in the league!

They can have our pick 6 for Hartlett. But I do like the thought of holding onto our second rounder, and hopefully getting a second rounder for Howe. I don't mind the upcoming draft in terms of quality players slipping outside of the first round. I think we could pick up a couple of reasonable mids in the second round.

We could do plenty worse than Hartlett, but I'm not sure he's worth pick 6 unless we think he is capable of being an every week top 3 midfielder. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a half back flanker. If Port were to throw in a pick or a player, I'd say yes.

He's not a HBF. 63% Time on ground as a mid, 20% as a forward

Have you seen him kick goals? Don't call him the super-boot for nothing.

Vince's best year is better than Hartlett's. Anyway you slice it or dice it 27 possessions is better than 22, especially in a B&F year when your team finished 5th and won a final. That's a bit better effort than Terlich's third in a 2 win year. Vince also has 2 x B&F's to his name.

It's silly of you to say that Hartlett is clearly the better player.

I said Vince's career at Adelaide was inferior to Hartlett's career to date. Vince's highly impressive 2 years with us would elevate him on a par with Hartlett.

And can someone explain why they seem to think that we can land Prestia?

Hamish Hartlett isn't even in the same boat as Nathan Fyfe.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
