Hamish Hartlett

Pick 6 is a bit rich

You reckon? I'd sign the deal before Port came to their senses.

I'll never understand why people would prefer draft picks over proven players. It's like choosing between $100,000 in cash or a Tattslotto ticket for me.

Hartlett is a very good player, of a perfect age. I just can't believe there's any way he will be shaken from the tree, but if we manage it it would be an even bigger KOTD than getting Vince for the Sylvia compo.

I reckon if true it's a bit of the you have to give to get principal, Hartlett is probably the most expendable of Wines, Wingard, Boak and those sorts of guys, he'd solve their salary cap issues and pick 5 or 6 in return knowing the MFC are interested would mean they'd be able to bring in Dixon and still grab a good young player from the draft

The guy is a BEAST!

The only doubt would be over whether his body can hold up as it has been troubled him, particularly at the start of his career.

Would love to get him through a swap of first round picks, but I think they'd need/want more...

Hartlett is a free agent next year. Port would need to be fair in what they expect to get in trade, given that clubs can just wait one season and get him at no trade cost at all.

(did someone mention that the FA system is a mess?)

With that in mind, we'd be mad to sacrifice our first pick to get him. Get a kid, 'bank' the salary cap space and offer him a five-year deal next year. Even Port would come out ahead, through a likely first-round compo pick.

If the stories are true about the Suns being after a Melbourne player (Howe is one mentioned in speculation) then it gives a nice ring to the possibility of a three way swap with draft picks exchanged to even things up.

It could happen.

I think out of all the players mentioned it is one that has the pieces falling together better than others.

Port would need to free up room for Dixon with some of the stars also close to re-signing, and with a few kids coming through they might feel that Hartlett is expendable and worth trading to free up the room AND get a quality kid in the door with a high pick as well.

I still think it's a long shot but there is more to it than any other high profile player that's been mentioned so far.

Hartlett is 26yo and it has taken him 7 years to reach 100 games due to injury.

His value IMO is watered down.

Pick 6 and they must take MJones and DTerlich.

No, he's 25 and plays 90% of the 2016 season as a 25 year old.

But yes, he has had injury issues.

Someone on Bomberblitz mentioned that we were into him.

Said it was a part of the Dixon trade. I posted it in the Delistings/Trade thread but didnt really think much of it.

However, Moneider96 mentioned that Todd Viney had said on a radio segment that Port should look to trade Hartlett.

Offer pick 6 for Prestia and see if they bite and chase him when he's a FA next year smart thinking Edited by Middymalt

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
