Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Wow these guys are real strategists, I  can see why eddie wanted allen. Colingwood has a lot of players with 'girlfriend' trouble.

Wasn't Allen the strategist who once kicked the ball across goal from the Collingwood back pocket straight into the hands of Footscray's Simon Beasley to give the Bullies a victory at Whitten Oval.

This is a continuation of that Wilson report http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/giant-lachie-whitfield-claims-drug-texts-a-ruse-as-afl-antidoping-charges-loom-20161024-gs9k94.html

It seems the 3 culprits claim it was all a ruse to fool Whitfield's then girlfriend.  I would have to say that they could have concocted something far more convincing.  Key points from the article:

  • Whitfield, Graeme Allan and Craig Lambert are all facing lengthy suspensions as it emerges that ASADA has formed the view that the trio breached the game's anti-doping code...which draws a maximum four-year penalty.
  • The AFL remains determined that any outcome will be reached with ASADA's approval.
  • While the AFL do not believe the incident warrants a four-year suspension for Whitfield, a former No. 1 draft pick, nor Allan and Lambert; Gillon McLachlan and his team remain highly tuned to the views of the national anti-doping authority.

It looks like the AFL are taking this seriously and working with ASADA this time on deciding the penalties.

The good thing is that support staff are now caught in the ASADA net and it is not just the player(s) penalised.  Allen and Lambert will go down with Whitfield unlike all the wrongdoers at Essendon.

The AFL are an embarrassment, the old boys club protecting revenue rather than doing what's right and fair. Looking the other way rather than impartialy when needed.

The AFL don't believe it should be a 4 year penalty, it would still be hidden if it was left in the AFLs hands.

Saying you were hiding from drug testers to actually hide from your girlfriend... How the f do Allen and Lambert have any jobs if they used that logic. That is not too bright.

The AFL would have to be ( next to Donald Trump's PR group) the most inept organisation on the planet, sitting on the biggest cash cow on the planet. Quite frankly i would be inclined to put them under administration for bringing their own group into disrepute. I will continue to bag as well.....

You're not wrong. It seems that Lachie was simply trying to hide from his crazy girlfriend! Wow, context can explain everything.

Giant Lachie Whitfield claims 'drug' texts a ruse as AFL anti-doping charges loom

I suppose that also explains why Lachie missed the round 7 match against Carlton. In case his girlfriend tried to run onto the ground and force him to propose.

What a bunch of gutter crawling scumbags they are. They've been caught red handed and to try and blame it on "the crazy girlfriend" is just disgusting. Let's take their story at face value. Whitfield has attempted to avoid his girlfriend by claiming he has to stay at Lamberts house for a few days because he took drugs and is scared he will test positive to PED's. Meanwhile he also apparently has a migraine and has to stay at Lamberts house because....

If that's the best they can come up with they deserve suspensions for sheer stupidity

And the farce is being added to by ASADA who now start jumping up and down, why weren't they jumping up and down when they couldn't find him for the testing, as I have put in previous posts, they are amateurs and only justify their existence by either accident or somebody dobbing in, as in this case

Wow you don't understand how this works at all.

Oh yes it was and what a shocker, kicking across the goal face in the backline!!!!! An absolute no no in those days now it's "de rigeur". Oh how we laughed when Beasley got that goal. Especially those few souls who hated Collingwood, not that there were many of them.

The AFL would of course not consider any sanction against GWS considering that a few of their officials and a player are involved in this knee deep.

I just realised that any draft sanctions taken against GWS this year would hurt the Giants deeply because they are supposed to have about half a dozen highly thought of academy prospects awaiting selection. My guess therefore is that the AFL will not do anything about this that requires a final decision until after the draft.

Yes I do know how it works, the drug agencies sit on their hands waiting for a team mate, girlfriend, coach, disgruntled employee to dob in a 'drug cheat', then they come out all guns blazing showing what a good job they are doing.....yeah right....my opinion

Rarely agree with you Saty

But I agree completely with this opinion. These agencys are just for show there part of the "seeming" culture

All governments want to "seem" to be doing something when but are rarely fully committed.

I hope I can assume you are against drugs in sport.

What should an anti drug agency be doing to ensure clean sport? How is your "ideal" anti drug agency structured and what does it do?

I feel sorry for Sammi Nowland.

She does not deserve the [censored] that will be unloaded on her if Whitfield is banned.

I had exhausted my supply of vomit bags during the EFC saga (I have a couple left for when Jobe is allowed to keep his medal though), but will now need to order another truck load.

The AFL is actively making it difficult for me to follow the sport I love.

If nothing else the AFL is helping WADA discover and address/amend all the 'grey' areas

Of all the pathetic lame duck excuses and to be so cowardly as to blame the girlfriend. Very, very ordinary behaviour. Hope the book is thrown.

If I know the AFL, and I think I do, there will be 2 books thrown.

The first will be approximately 4 pages long and printed on rice paper. It will be wafted softly in the general direction of Whitfield, and may or may not softly glance his cheek.

The second will be an enormous leather-bound volume, bound with a hard spine plus additional appendices, launched from the Herald Sun's media cannon at Sammi Nowland's unsuspecting face.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
