I hope the Kangas beat GWS so I can at least think that it was beyond our power, even if we did beat Geelong today and Carlton

I just want to finish the season 9th, which we are unlikely to do now because St Kilda will most likely beat Brisbane.

Does anyone know when the darts season starts?

A win would be a great thanks for Roos and his efforts over the last few years. The darts were on 503 or 505 last night..

Well as I couldnt get a ticket and dont have foxtel im waiting to 3 when it comes on 7 to watch it. I will turn off from all media and social media.

Not sure how I feel about today. A part of me wants to win because it would be good for Rossy and a nice way to send him off and also it would be nice to end the season with a win, but I will also be annoyed after we stuffed up last week. It seems when the pressure is off we do well.

But have a top 8 spot up for grabs and we cant cope.

Anyway no injuries today would be great.

If we win today when the pressure is off i will be furious.

I will have to find a good thai massage off Sukhumvit Road to mellow down....

Yeah beating Geelong in Geelong again would be horrible.

A minor point which is fairly irrelevant in the scheme of things, but would love to see Jack Watts kick at least 2 goals and hit 40 for the season.  A nice little reward for a very good season.

He'd better kick them - it would be a shame if he couldn't scrape the barest of pass marks for the season from ProDee.

Let's go to lose, great approach

The captain has spent almost all of the warm up running around with the defensive group. Mids on other side of the field.

LATE CHANGES

Melbourne: Dean Kent (corked thigh) replaced by Matt Jones in the selected side.

Rather hollow after last weeks white flag

This game is a lot more important than many give credit. A win builds momentum and excitement for pre season and the 2017 season. As Roosy said in his presser, the importance of that win over a depleted GWS in Round 23 last year set up pres season and 2016.

FWIW, I think we'll win. Just need to shut down Dangerfield and Selwood. Do that and we win.

Culturally and momentum wise, this game is equally as important as last week.

Roosy's last game, last game before we think about preseason.

Actually a really important game.

If they struggled to put in a good performance last week against a side that had lost 9 on the trot with a finals spot up for grabs then what chance today against the Cats who are at home and playing for top spot?

If they were so hell bent on giving Roos a good send off what happened last week.

Not a lot to play for in the Dees eyes compared to the cats.

Low in the extreme is my expectation.

According to Roosy they didn't want to train them too much on the track before that match as some were a little tired

To help being seen as a destination club we need to win today. A win against another top 4 side would be the perfect way to say thank you to Paul Roos.

It also help encourage sponsors and potentially even help get Hogans extension done.

Lets win and win well!

This really irritates me too. Their percentage is worse than Collingwoods yet they'll finish 9th. If our 'home' game was at the G we'd have won, and be playing for a finals spot today.

I'd still rather our list by a long way though.

People sooking up about how today is meaningless... So what when we went into the Hawthorn game you didn't give a [censored] cos 99% of people didn't think finals was a chance then... Our young group has a chance to knock off a top 4 side again to finish the year and put an ! on this season... I feel sorry for those who can't enjoy today for what it is

Sorry guys, sure last week was important - but a win today is vital. Vital to attract players from other clubs, Vital for momentum going into a preseason, Vital for  attracting new members.

Spot on. Show the football world that we care and we bounce back fast from a bad loss.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
