Or Pedersen's (despite being emergency).  Ballsy call I reckon to pick Weideman over both.  We already knew they were both warming the spot for the Weid or Hulett, but this suggests it could happen sooner than we all thought.

Really happy with the changes.  I'm oddly excited for a game we have zero chance of winning.

In: Bugg, Weideman, Oliver

Out: Chris Dawes, Josh Wagner, Matt Jones

Emg: Colin Garland, Cameron Pedersen, Matt Jones.

So Pedo would come in if Hogan doesn't get up.

All looks pretty good to me!

Bugger, those three, Dawes Wagner and Jones stayed and did a bit more work with the 'Casey' guys at the end of training, thought it was just a bit more work, I could have made a big prediction on here like I did with Garland once before

Realistically, finals are out of the question so time to blood the young guy then he can hit the ground running next year in the early games.... when it really counts...

Nice changes and glad Jesse is named, Oliver is overdue and Wagner has looked pretty average since early in the year. I would have Oscar out for one of Dunn/Garland although there is that 'looking to the future' argument. This is one hell of a young side

Correct.  Roos said he is being rested entirely:  '...Dawesy definitely [needs a rest] with a six-day break, with his body the way it is at the moment...He came in, after having a weekend off and played really well the first game, but we’ve got to be mindful of that'.

Not good if he needs a week or two rest every few weeks.  If his body can't handle it that alone may force him to retire as it won't get any easier to front up every week as he gets older - 29 next year, not old but physical issues not good for a big guy.

I'm not sure that's correct. I thought Michie was one of Roos' recruits in his first year. Can anyone confirm?

Recruited before Roos signed on.

Agreed about the Weed.

However, unless Weed kicks six I reckon the club must keep one of Dawes or Pedo. At this stage it looks like Pedo.

I thought Dawes did  ok last week.

I'd have thought both would stay at least another 12 months for, dare I say it, Hogan leaving insurance? Big blokes don't grow on trees

Garlett owes himself and us.  It was his brain fades last time vs Hawks that cost us momentum (we probably still would have lost) and cost him his place in the team.

Importantly, it was the first time real question marks about his performance were raised.  A heap of goals would be good but just getting his touch and endeavour back would be a big plus for our forward line working well.

A good game for redemption!

Probably the most accurate glimpse of the future we've had all season. Can't believe we've waited this long to see Brayshaw, Petracca, Stretch Oliver and Hogan in the same side.

Best of luck to The Weed as well! Good idea for him to play some senior football before the end of the year so he can hit the ground running this pre-season.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
