Happy to let my bias shine through.

Hunt has been far better than many who have already been selected.  I have to concede that I didn't see the Richmond game, but Riloi's 16 disposals must have been superb to beat Hunt's 16 disposals.  Rioli kicked 2 goals, whilet Hunt kicked his trademark running goal, had numerous exhilarating runs through the middle and took two contested marks.

In fairness, Rioli was a standout in that game. Had so much energy in the contest and was the only player who looked capable of generating a meaningful Richmond attack. Would have been a toss of the coin.

Hunt routinely gets name dropped on the Foxtel shows when Melbourne's progress is discussed, as well as on 3AW and SEN. I think the media and footy public have definitely noticed the difference he's made.

Hopefully for his sake he gets recognised in the last round. It's been unlucky that there has always been a player or two to make a case ahead of him for a nomination each week. As I said earlier, I think he's had the most consistent year of any of our nominees, including Petracca. It would be odd for him not to get a nomination on that basis but it matters little in the overall scheme of things.

During the coverage of our last game, I think a stat came up for meters gained per possession and Hunt was top 5 in the AFL. I would say he's a certainty for the next nomination and if they need to they will choose more than 1 player this week.

You managed to sit through that entire game?

Wow man. Kudos.

Wasn't the Richmond/Saints game one of the worst of the year?

I'm not sure how many good games Rioli has played but I'd guarantee Hunt has played more.

You apparently need one good game not a bunch of pretty good games.

He will need a good game to get it this week.

He will be unlucky to miss out, but really who cares, as we know he can play.

Can anyone with the knowhow put up a youtube clip with all hunts highlights for the season? I dare say they would rival whoever wins the rising star.

James Harmes was just on the Mangarook Footy Show and they were discussing the 4 RS nominations and he said - we are a bit stiff that Jayden hasn't had one as well!

He also said he doesn't want to change to lower number jumper - he is loyal to the 43 and wants to play in as many games he can in the 43!

Another young player doing us proud.

If your name is Rioli

Roos is correct. Jayden is among the best 5 young Rising Star category players in the AFL, but has not got a Nomination.

I would think, as long as no other unnominated player blitzes, Hunt with a fairly good game, could get the nod.

Roos was very passionate about Jayden deserving a nomination...said he will take care of it on Monday:rolleyes:

...not to subtle pressure from Roos:roos:

Meaningless...

He either goes on to become a star and this will be forgotten, or he won't and he will be meaningless trivia ten years from now.

Have been banging on about this for years. And been howled down on this site for the view as well. Glad you're on my side DC!

The biggest problem with the nominations is that being in a winning team seems to account for about 80% of the weighting, the balance being the actual performance. I know Rioli got nominated from a losing team, but most of the more dubious nominations come from fringe players in a winning team, rather than a good player in a losing team.

It is an absolute joke if Hunt doesn't get the nomination after this week.

Reckon he could finish top 5 in the voting if he does.

I know this whole thing is a bit of a joke that nobody cares about, but Hunt deserves a nomination as reward for hard effort. Coming from a long way off with injuries, making his debut this season and absolutely changing the way we play thanks to his dash. How Harmes could get a nomination but Hunt couldn't by now is definitely wrong.

I agree, incidentally, but wouldn't want to dredge up the pages and pages people went on about Hogan v Cripps last year

I like to think the AFL has delayed Hunt's nomination to the final round at the request of the Herald Sun who want to use the headline "Rising Star finally in the Hunt"

And with the added weight of being part of a winning team.

YAY!!  -  we've got a ripper here.  Others only see his dash, but we've witnessed a more complete game.

Lucky us!

Rarely do we see a young player rebuke himself so often as does this Melbourne gem. For his age, and i hope his fitness i see running patterns and smooth similarities, perhaps only lacking confidence and experience, that could have Demon supporters salivating at a unique combination of a dual Brownlow Medalist, combined with a more esteemed Melbourne Champion in Keith Greig and Robbie. This bloke has got a good genuine smile too

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
