FAREWELL JACK GRIMES

A shame that he hasn't developed in the way we had hoped he'd would. Was one of the most promising up and comers in the league 2010-2012.

I have no doubt that he'll be picked up next year by another team; decent player, strong leader and clubman.  A team like Brisbane could use someone like Grimes around.

Wish him all the best.

Exactly. Many others on MFC list have worse disposal than Grimes... Lamumba, t.mcd, o.mcd, bugg, wagner. all miss key targets regularly but seem to get Roos' approval. Grimes will get another go.

I'm thrilled that Jack got his Century.  Not only is it doing the right thing by the player, but it's simply good planning as long as the Father/Son (or Parent/Child) rules exist.  There is no possible negative in making sure that he gets to triple figures and it makes the club look better to find room for him in the side a couple of extra times.  Well done all around.

I like Grimesy, but like many fans I have had to accept that he is nit going to reach the heights we thought he would when he burst onto the scene and was later made captain.

I wish him well.

Definitely crucified... Was in our best 5 against the Dockers.  Certainly not the worst by any stretch against the Saints but immediately gets dropped.  McDonalds combined cost us 6 goals against the Saints and two of Wagners turnovers (resulting in goals). Then rebounds with a BOG effort in the VFL only for Vandenburg (poor for 3 weeks before his injury) gets back in. Again Oscar Mcdonald is spared.

Jack's card is marked but he hardly has been treated fairly or responsibly.  Another ex captain crucified.

Terrible against the saints on a fast track, to slow, not in our best 25, time to move on...

Sad given his service, sacrifice and leadership but Jack needs to reinvent himself at another place. I really feel for the two Jacks, they deserve so much more but as part of the AFL slaughterhouse of dreams and ambitions they are our Paschal lambs.

too slow? I thought posters said it was his disposal, which was good. Now its pace ...come on, Vandenburg, White, Wagner, Bugg, Jetta are hardly jets!!

I think his decision making is extremely slow, he holds the ball up and stops the run we have. I don't think his style of play compliments an attacking game style at all.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
