I can see 5 changes being made.

Out: Garland (inj), Omac, Newton, ANB, Kennedy

In: Oliver, Trengove, Pedersen, Grimes, Frost (down back)

Casey having a week off means those guys should be fresh and good to go. I rate Kennedy but think he has started to trail off in recent weeks. I have some worries about ANB. I really thought he would grab his opportunity and perform. Newts needs some vfl time, he has missed a heap of footy. Omac isn't ready. Garland will need some time to recover after his heavy knock.

I agree about Kennedy, I think he's been super important - even when he hasn't been getting a heap, but yesterday he was terrible. According to the telecast he looked proppy in the pre-game warm up - the commentators seemed to think it was an ankle. Clearly he wasn't and he should get no allowances for it either - if you say you're good to go, you better perform.  We had two emergencies there.  In Hindsight Dawes as an in would have been a better option - at least it would have dragged Westhoff out.

Contrast ANB to Oliver, he's a nice neat player, but he's small and he gets monstered in close.  Newton for me is a downhill skier,  he looks a lot better when we're winning, but barely influences the contest when we need to win the ball. We needed more support in the middle yesterday.

Worst effort of the year. We missed Oliver. Badly. Sad that he is so young and means so much. Comes in for Newton for mine.

another tall, Dawes or Pedo would have been handy. Our Harmes for me, needs a rest.

Omac is miles off, so either Dunn or Frost come in.

also feel Grimes has earnt a game, if we really reward Casey form he should come in. Probably for Kennedy.

I wouldn't get too excited.....without Viney and an unorganised defence,I'd be surprised if it wasn't a ten goal loss.

I never comment on team selection, but why did we get Frost, about time he was tried there. Pedo if fit is a must and ollie  the other change, gaud only playing the dauks.

If True why wouldn't they have replaced  him there and then??

Players injured in warm up can be replaced!??

If I were coach I would swing the axe hard! Stay tuned for "Fence" reaction to this squalid effort! could be up to 5 or 6 changes!

Too many players drink their own bathwater too easily and become big, fat, bloated, blubbered whales basking in Krill!!

Time to say no more pizz weak one week on one week of performances!

Trenners to play if Viney gets suspended.

Don't think we need to bring in Dunn or Frost as Hawthorn play a smaller forward line.

TMac on the resting McEvoy/Ceglar, Garland on Gunston, Wagner on Scicily, Jetta on Rioli, Michie on Breust and Bugg special assignment on Poppy.

Given Garland's likely injury that i was initially unaware of and a likely suspension to Viney i'd add them to my outs and bring Dunn & Trengove in for them. I'd even guarantee Dunn the next three games, however if he doesn't perform it'd probably be time to try Frost down back and Dunn's papers stamped.

That would mark 6 changes with 1 150 game player, 1 100 game player & 2 80-90 game players amongst the inclusions to help our experience as Roos alluded to.

FB: Wagner, Dunn, Jetta

HB: Michie, T. McDonald, Bugg

C: Vince, Trengove, Tyson

HF: Petracca, Hogan, Kent

FF: Watts, Dawes, Garlett

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, N. Jones

INT: Grimes, Harmes, Hunt, Stretch

EMERG: Neal-Bullen, Newton, Pedersen

Enough with Wagner, Oscar and Newton.

heathorn don't have any key forwards so Dunn can come back in for Oscar. Trenners for Newton and Oliver for Wagner.

Not excited at all.  The Hawks have a low % and will be looking to this game to get it much higher.  Scary times.

Ins           for            Outs
Frost                       OMac or Garland if injured
Oliver                      ANB or Viney (susp) then ANB gets 1 more chance
Dawes                    Kennedy
Trengrove               Newton

FB: Wagner, Frost,  Jetta

HB: Bugg, T McDonald, Garland (or Omac)

C: Stretch, Tyson,  Vince

HF: Kent ,Hogan, Watts

FF: Petracca, Dawes, Garlett

F: Gawn, Jones, Viney (or ANB)

Interchange: Trengrove, Hunt, Oliver, Harmes

Super lucky: Well alot of them really... but particularly Kent. We need his pace and don't really have a suitable replacement. May be in trouble when AVB is match fit

Grimes could maybe come in for Viney but 4 changes seems about right to me.
Dunn could also come if we want garland out regardless of injury but why replace 1 bloke who is past it with another who is past it?

Big Max certainly needs a hand, whether its Pedo or Dawes.

Listen to his post match interview on the MFC website.

Eluded to that he was sore, that his situation was unique,

that he had 2 ruckmen belting into him every week, and twice

he said he has to do it again next week.

Its been a big ask of Max,anywonder his around the ground

form has dropped off. He has to do a lot of miles each week.

How big is Frost ? ,seems pretty fast and athletic. If  they are not

going to play him down back, give him a crash course in the ruck.

Picking Dawes over Pedo seeing Dawes was an emergency this week and Pedo wasn't named at all. Would love to name H, but don't think he'll be right to go.

Long trip, short break, poor performance, so changes need to be made. Let's hope the selection committee start to find some form...

What a poor performance!! Kent played one of the worst matches I've ever seen. (Well, the first half anyway.)

So many missed chances at vital times. Absolute momentum killers/changers.

It will be carnage against Hawthorn.

Despite kicking 4 goals against Brisbane (3 in junk time), he had a shocker. His effort against PP wasn't much better.

I think that writing off OMac is a bit premature. But he needs the rest of the season at Casey.

There are too many small players in the side. Need to limit the number.

Okay this may be a bit radical but I'm not a believer in shuffling deck chairs.

Spencer should come into the side, he would provide more than just 5 minutes relief in the ruck (particularly if our defensive zone is built around midfield clearances then a second ruck becomes imperative).  Max resting up forwards is a serious target (he is a goal kicker) that would prevent oppositions double teaming Hogan and if they do, then Watts (who is a better shot at goal) becomes a very very dangerous target.  Spencer up forward would bring the ball to ground, bringing our smalls into the game.

Our forwards are not defensive enough so AVB would also help improve our zone structure and though we would loose speed with Kent out, he actually doesn't get that many possessions due to his speed (the possessions he gets from positioning or our offensive zone working can be achieved by AVB - who is also a far better marking option).

If Viney is injured then ANB is a must to stay in, for though Oliver is a necessity he is not the high numbers player (yet) that ANB can be.  Newton should come out.

The sooner we get Frost settled into the backline the better, his speed could help limit the damage of teams getting over the back.  Oscar could play Garland's role, if we are to persist with him.

*Omac   Tmac     Bugg

Hunt    Frost     Jetta

Stretch   Jones   Vince

AVB      Watts    Harmes

Kennedy Hogan Garlett

Gawn Tyson ANB

Oliver Spencer Wagner Grimes/Trengove

* I could easily swap grimes for Omac

# I could easily swap Kennedy for Trengove, its just a pit we don't have JKH to come in and add crumbing and pressure acts (he wasn't super quick but did find space when in form)

The selection committee comments are fairly mindboggling. We're only a few weeks since that St Kilda debacle where we decided to leave the team mostly unchanged after a 5.5 day break between matches.

Now we have a 6 day break with interstate travel and only make 2 changes. We're a young list, we need to rotate players through the 2s and carefully monitor their training habits. We are having the same on-on-off patches routinely this year; how many times do we need to suffer embarrassing, flat losses before the coaches act on it?

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
