Very good article.

Conveniently written the week we're playing Port, the old pump up our tires and then watch us self deflate trick.

Lets not fall for that and smash Port this weekend!

I'd go the other way and say he's protecting his beloved Port if we do knock them off. He's reminding the Port crazies that if they do lose, it's not the end of the world.

Man I hate how its either:   "DEE-plorable" Pathetic dees etc

or they'll win a flag.

how about just report how it is.   we were shocking, we are now an OK, decent, average team with potential. guess that doesnt sell 'clicks' on a website

I still remember vidily Brucey saying:  "Oooh these Demons are going to be Something!"  back in ~2010.  well no, we were not

It's a bit like Demonland commentary really.

PM sent

Thanks hells bells. Really appreciate it. Good read too.

Isn't it nice to see so many positive articles after so long being the butt of jokes?

Would you mind passing it on to me, faultydet?

Pm'd you mate if someone hasn't already

If you are having trouble reading it click this link and then read the first story that pops up, I don't think there's a way to directly link to it.

Perhaps we could start our own coterie group and call it Grumpy Old Men.  My grandkids don't call me pa or granddad.  They prefer to refer to me simply as grumps.

Most sides would've beaten us last week. We were ordinary and this is a media beat up of the highest order.

I've noticed your penchant for hyperbole.

We weren't at our best and still won by ten goals.

Probably adding to the evidence that we have a strong young team list than taking away from it.

But i would agree that we are a footy team that is in transition from "ok" to "good" and there are a lot more steps from here to a flag.

Like others I would prefer that the lid stayed on for a while.

That's what the media do, it's their job, unfortunately.

Let go of the constant negativity and enjoy the sunshine of a 10 goal win while it lasts.

I'm off to Hong Kong for the weekend tomorrow. Catching up with my son to watch the game - if we can find a bar that screens AFL. Maybe I'll buy a couple of nice glasses and a fresh bottle of something good at the duty free on the way back.

Go Dees!

Glenlivet was on special at Melb Duty Free last week, bought a couple, very nice. Nadura 16yo and a Single Cask 20yo.

I seriously doubt the MCG is big enough to hold us all iv'a.

But a sterling idea.

Smoking jackets with elbow patches and crystal glass in hand.

That sounds like the correct attire I can just see us all on GF day !

Surely you mean blazers, OD ....?☺

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
