Others have said it before, but Weideman training with Hogan everyday can only help his development

Newton is a nice addition to those guys. He has been working his way back into game time and form over last 3 weeks. Reckon his numbers will jump soon.

As early as today even? ?

Wow Weidermans becoming a real pillar down at Casey. Pedo is doing a good job in the seniors and also provides a second ruck option but I love the Weids himself has said that he's not in a hurry.

I watched the last quarter of the pies vfl game and after a nice mark by the weed said to the fella next to me that he'll be pretty special once he bulks up. The fella said he could borrow some of his heft. It turned out to be his dad. Nice fella.

I asked if he thought Weed jnr would get a game before the end of the year and he said perhaps one near the end just to give him the experience.

The weed snr said he and his son were wrapt at how he was being developed and the club in general. Very positive. He also said Trac will be something out of the box.

38 disposals and 2 goals for Newton is impressive.

Alex Neal Bullen with another 30 disposals.

Amazing depth..

James Harmes and Benny Kennedy are keeping those two guys out.

No doubt both deserve a gig, but just no spots at the moment!

It is very good to see these guys develop but it is great that backup  ruckman play to solid games and his foot seem ok.

The Dees Development team also won by heaps. 64 million dollar question is why from time to time 3 teams end up with a bye, can't 2 teams play each other. in the WAFL teams play each other 3 times in a season.

This may be your most coherent post yet! And i agree totally. Until they set up an AFL reserves comp the VFL does need to be run to service the AFL.

Nice interview with Trenners and Jimmy Munro on the Scorps website. Seems the association between the clubs is really harmonious and the various coaches are on the same page - must be great for our development of the younger players and the remediation of those on the outer.

It would be interesting to know how the son of Bomber's legend Paul Van Der Haar is travelling in the Development team .

How on earth did they beat the pies yesterday?

Didn't need too much depth obviously ;)

Is he out?

That's big news if so, what happened?

Adams having finger surgery this week and will miss a couple of weeks, according to Bulldogs Bigfooty. Check the preview thread.

Ben Newton is an interesting player. He has played some solid footy for us at AFL level, the query on him being that he needed to find the footy more, perhaps work on his tank.  He has shown a knack for kicking goals.

Great to see him rack up almost 40 possies today.

Frost is a defender. May even be IN this week and replace Michie.

Needed to man up on Campbell/Roughhead as resting forwards.

And backup if Stringer beats Mcdonald... given Lynch would have kicked 10 if the Suns had a midfield.

(Assume Mcdonald gets Stringer and Garland gets Redpath).

Briggs kicks his 4th. He is loving life at Casey. Might need Angry at Casey to find out more about him. 19 year old - did a Google search and couldn't find anything. 105 - 18.

Will have to do some investigating. Believe he's out of Queensland but not 100% sure.

Thought he was actually more of a rebounding defender, but he may have other strings to his bow?

I also think that a successful Casey is important for Weideman's development as well. It wouldn't be much fun playing down at Casey on a cold wintery day, and being starved of opportunities as a key forward.

As for Newton, I was a bit of a rap for him last year. Endurance seemed to be his biggest knock, but his kicking skills are amongst the best at the club. I think he's got more strings to his bow than Michie, and better disposal than ANB. If Kent's inconsistent form continues, he could get a gig as a half forward.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
