6. Gawn - Absolute beast. Set up our offense. Gawn shows the true value of a quality ruckman, his tap work is invaluable.

5. Viney - Grunt work exceptional. Second and third efforts didn't go unnoticed, an absolute bull, a real leader of men.

4. Garlett - Forward pressure amazing, ability to kick goals when we need them - impressive. Any other day he would be BOG, top 2 had amazing days.

3. Tyson - Massive day today. Tyson is capable of big days, he is levels above his recent output, and today shown that. Great game, more of it plz.

2. Vince - Classy performer, tough as nails.

1. Kent - Continues to impress, ooozes potential - starting to deliver.

Honorable mentions - Hunt, Bugg, improved game from Salem, Jetta steady. TMAC stiff to miss the votes.

My votes are as per Dee Dee (above)

6 Viney - what a second half, was absolutely amazing, which makes it 3 x BOGs so far by my count

5 Gawn - awesome first half where he was everywhere

4 Tyson - contemplated giving him 6 because he was god for 4 quarters, but couldn't ignore the sheer impact of the above 2

3 Garlett - one of my favourites, took his chances and and makes defences nervous

2 Kent - that is now a consistent 3 week block where he has impacted games throughout, rather than just small cameos

1 McDonald - cut off so many attacks with some great intercept marking, but was let down by some poor disposal

I was a little too "tired" to post last night but here' s my view from the good seats

Max Gawn. Simply a colossus

Viney. As usual a powerhouse in and around the contested ball

Garlett. Kicked 4 and had a hand in another 4.  A key member of the team.

T Mac. Strong marking and provided a real barrier in defence

Vince  Classy always and a good finisher. Also provides a bit of mongrel

Tyson's more even effort just pips JW for my final vote

Now- Where's Jonsey? Mind you he was OK but as shown above we now have a team of contributors and not a one man team!

6 - Viney - he is in AA form at the moment and was just a beats at every contest, he loves the jumper and the club and it shows, he is the leader this club has been crying out for

5 - Gawn -dominant around the ground and imposed himself seems to have the belief in himself and IMO just behind Goldy and ahead of Mummy as the leagues best ruckman

4 - Tyson - best game he has played for the club and an upgrade on his 2014 form

3 - Garlett - 4 goals isn't all he done his harassment and heat at the drop of the ball created uncertainty in with the Tigers defenders throughout the game, glad we got him right before bringing him back in

2 - Vince - had the experience and poise at vital moments when the Toiges were coming I don't care that we gave up pick 20 for him, he has been invaluable to the club and to the development of Viney

1 - Kent -  gut running, hard chases and good decision making which is something if he does consistently will make him the player he can be

2.  Gawn - exceptional first half

3.  Tyson - goal kicking mids are gold.

4.  Vince - silk

5.  Garlett - creative

6.  Salem - terrific first half and good second half.  Creative use by hand and precise kicking.  Very good decision maker and hurts the opposition when he gets it.  Underrated game.

Apology:  T Mac.  He would almost have been BOG but his turnovers hurt.  Just misses a spot in the six.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
