I relied on Demon9's post on today's "training report" where he referred to heavy strapping on Watts' knee. Perhaps wait and see whether other Demonlanders post on the training session with more authority?

Thanks for that.

Tommy Mac was on SEN this morning saying that Watts didn't train the week of the Ess game and played poorly becasue of it. Maybe he is carrying something?

TMac sounded very composed and articulate. Can see why he is in the leadership group. (yes I know he needs to fix his dosposal

Seriously, this playing injured players bothers me.

VdB and now JW, as well as bringing back Gus too early. So this is the meaning of "tired"!

How many others? Tyson still doesn't look 100% to me, and usually only gets around 70% TOG

Are we going to put anyone on Oxley this time?

Roos will ask the players to man up but they'll refuse apparently.

Alright, that's it, never taking Misson at his word again. How does he go from "he'll play" last week, to being an unlikely starter this week?

Makes the job harder with Vince out as well but every team has to deal with injury/suspension so it give someone else a chance. On the plus side Kent stepped up in the second half last week, hopefully he can continue that form.

What his bump on Ziebell? That was a ripper wasn't it.

Sure was.

Everyone who responded on this has confused good, hard, in the play footy with going out of your way to focus on hitting someone who is already sore, and losing focus on the game itself.

Bernie is the classic case in point. In play, bump looks great. Tries to be tough and elbow someone, looks like a kn0b.

Too subtle for most, clearly.

Bottom line , is there any truth that Watts is under an injury cloud!??

He said before the Kangas game that Garlett would 100% play

Next  minutes hes missed 2 matches

That is a mistake as to whether he has gotten oven an injury, it is not an ironclad guarantee and also not the main part of his job, as I said in my post.

You would think if Jeff is out, Stretch will stay in and be joined by Gus, Hunt and ANB or Wagner. I think Wagner may miss out. We will know soon.

Oh no, Misson guessed wrong...

The MC screws up when they bring player back without conditioning, and most players play with niggles.

Case in point - Nathan Jones - played through neck issues and had surgery in the off-season. He was carrying that injury very well. But he was injured.

If we didn't play all those who are carrying something - we wouldn't field a side.

Ah well, at least I can enjoy the excuses if we don't win.

Can we ever just get a decent run at it ffs.

Final teams in;

In: Pedersen, Brayshaw, Hunt

Out: Vince, Vandenberg, Stretch

Surely Frost moves to the backline. Not sure what they're doing with Stretch. He hasn't been bad in either game he played, and was dropped the following week.

Stretch a bit stiff, wasn't the worse, but happy to see Brayshaw and Hunt in.

Going to be interesting in the coming weeks with Vince, Garlett, Petracca and presumably Trengove to come (back) in, with ANB, Stretch and maybe others knocking on the door. No room for passengers!

Second week in a row that the selections have left me scratching my head.

* Can't see a role for both Pedersen and Frost
* It is a big roll of the dice playing both Wagner and Hunt.  That is a lot of inexperience in defensive posts - assuming that is where they play.

No choice but to put it down to "these guys are the experts and I'm not" and go with it.  It's not doing my confidence much good though.

For what it's worth, Grimes has now been included as an emergency with Garlett going out.

do you mean "with garlett maybe going out"?

Yep another week where im scratching my head and confused with some of these selection.

Again i can't see us winning this game.

Pretty obvious to me. They have 3 big forwards, hence Pedo in. Frost plays forward with Hogan and Watts to keep the structure they want. They can always swap if it's not working. Having slightly more depth now, I think we will see changes made to suit match ups week to week.

Vanders has been playing as a marking forward so Pederson for him.
Vince out for Brayshaw (obvious).
Stretch was brought in for his run Hunt in for him.

I'm not convinced Pedersen is the greatest in but when you break it down its not that bizarre

edit: And Perderson can play as swing man if required

If we knew what was good for us.. We'd play Frost back on Cloke & Pedo forward. I just do not like Frost playing forward. Experiment over. He just doesn't offer enough.

Even with only 2 talls (maybe 3), we don't have a middle ground where we can go undersized and still manage taller player. GWS, Essendon and North talls have all had a field day with marks inside 50. We need to match them as best we can with height down back.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
