What? Did Sheedy say he is expecting 75,000-95,000 for the Melbourne v Essendon game?

Sheedy is a freak show from the past.

For all Dees fans going - this is our time not the drug cheats.  We must not be intimidated by this mob in any fashion whatsoever, just let them make fools of themselves which they will.  I will be turning my back when it comes to any celebrations they conduct.

the MFC must not be embarrassed by this mob!!!!!!

This has to be seen as an awesome opportunity for 'US' - not them. That's the way we need to look at it - it's all about perspective.

They'll put in all the money and effort to create the fanfare about this match - which I'm sure will get some decent media coverage post match with regards to how it pans out and what the reception was. We need to take the opportunity to make sure the story ends with 'proceedings didn't go to plan for Essendon with Melbourne 'injecting' further pain with a 80+ point thrashing...'

We need to pull our own crowd

it will be 3 years since that disgusting defeat by those cheats...

it's time to throw it back hard...

Watching Jamar he looks completely unfit and way past it.

Gawn is going to have a field day.

As much as I respected Jamar and am not watching the match, this quote from the AFL site sounds eerily familiar:

Quote

Essendon ruckmen have won 17 of 55 ruck contests, yet not one has gone to the advantage of a teammate.

Just listened to the 3AW interview with the Essendon CEO. The arrogance, the lack of accepting responsibility, is mind-blowing. It is all still 'something that happened to us' in their mind.

I think this is the most I've ever wanted the Melbourne Football Club to go out an absolutely crush an opponent.

Normally I feel a little sympathy for supporters of clubs which are getting smashed, but honestly, as an Essendon supporter if you turn up to support this perversion then you deserve to go home miserable.

Unfair.

At his AA peak he and Moloney had the highest tap/possession percentage in the league.

Confidence jnr.

you can put it in the bank we will win the first two.

They can march up and down till they are blue in the face will make no difference to the result.

I think you are mistaken.

The MFC team this year will be very different and the EFC team will be vastly different to last year.

They won last year because Danniher had a one in five year game.

Won't happen this year.

Forget the past we are about to create a new future.

Who are you and what have you done with Old Dee? :)

the Aliens have abducted him, sadly...  or he's on the MACA.  whichever came first?

seriously 'OD',  IMO is a very good judge of players & team lists.   I think he now sees our list as one worth being optimistic over.

I agree as well, as I think most do.   we can naturally see it.. so the big Question remains, why oh why, do we insist on being so optimistic & loyal when we have craap lists.  which then delays any repairs.

we have people in charge finally,,,   who know footy,  & are seriously fixing this club.  The key now is to keep improving but what worries me is wen Roos & PJ have left the building.

Beaten today:  3.6.24 to Cats 17.9.111

A thrashing by WCE in WA for their last NAB

Big loss to GCS in Qld - round 1

Then hope it buckets down rain for our round 2 game - only the die hard efc supporters will want to walk to the MCG and go to the game...

...and Sheedy's great rally turns into a fizzer!

I desperately want us to win but I also desperately want Sheedy et al to have egg on their smug faces...may their supporters stay home!

That's why I said I respected him.  But since those halcyon days, it is true that his hitouts rarely did us much good.

It was a long time ago.

And it was for one year.

Like many of our past and even present players, extremes in form fluctuation seems to be the norm.

Which is why Nathan Jones is the only member of the 'past' who should hold his head high.

The only one of any substance.

Everyone said that last year after the Saints walloped them by 100 points. We had the same comments about how it'd be a cakewalk for us, while a few posters called for caution, correctly labeling the game a danger game (the Carlton match a few rounds later, too).

I don't think the MFC has earned the right to pencil in W's for any match this year. 2015 proved we're still the kings of losing the "shoe-in" matches.

Let's hope that habit gets eradicated this season. I'm quietly confident but the proof will be in the pudding.

I'll be there for this one and by god I hope we win and if/when given the opportunity we put our foot on their throats.  That 2013 game of 148 points must burn those who played that night as much as it does me.  James Kelly arrogantly yawning during the song at the end of a loss to the Cats in 08 or 09 is another reason why I want to hurt them bad

It's very "Essendon". Their arrogance knows no bounds. I hope we absolutely destroy them by 100 points.

Surely there are not any on here anymore who seriously think we cannot beat  essendrug?

I think we could almost find a way to lose.

Sorry, but I'm still numb from all the shock loses of the past to be as confident as many posters on here.

I don't care about us flogging them, I'd be happy just to win it.

Can I suggest if not mentioned before that when the essendrug faithful stand and applaud we turn in the opposite direction and put our arms and hands across our chests in defiance of this cheating mongrel club!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
