and it's certainly not the squad that he thought he was going to have at his disposal.

my query would be about the top-up players; what happens if the bombers unearth a star? do they get to keep him when the 12 come back in 2017, or do they go back into the pool of available

They would go back in to the pool, presumably. Probably as delisted free agents? Essendon certainly shouldn't get any rights over them.

Wouldn't it be bloody typical if Essendon unearthed a star out of their topups?

It sucks we get them in r2 because for the first few weeks they will be angry and motivated. Half way through the year they will be losing motivation.

Gosh though 12 months. I didn't see that coming. But its sort of funny in a way. Dank is going on about the outcome being a joke. Well you refused to testify and help the players.

Turd still wont accept responsibility. Guess what u arrogant loser you have wrecked that club. I hope in 10 years time the players arent dealing with side effects from this. For anyone interetsing Turd is going to be on radio sunday night and I hitnk on abc24.  ABC to show live, exclusive 50-minute interview with James Hird at 7.40pm AEDT Sunday

On the h/sun website they have published some transcripts. Jake asked Dank about a drip because he hadnt had one this week. “We’ll do it tomorrow.’’ Response to Dank when told he had forgotten his shot. Jobe Watson. Seriously were they just having a revolving door down there.

I like Jobe but he cannot keep his brownlow. How much will it hurt them to see Jobe lose it and be given to ,Mitchell. I dont think Mitchell will want to accept it. If an Olympic athlete is found guilty of substance use then they would lose there medal. And I did feel for Tim Watson tonight on 7 because he was talking as a father to one of those players.

As for Paul Marsh. I get he has to defend them but dont say we believe the players have done nothing wrong. At least some of the smart ones said no to the program but its hard to defend them. And don't say let the players grieve. Yes they have lost there job for 12 mths but no one died. I mean if my boss came to me tomorrow and said we will start this injection program I would have a ton of questions to ask and id refuse.

Essendon fans dont blame the AFL. They didnt start this. I wonder if Demetriou is sitting back having a quiet drink.

anyway the thing is now this will dominated the news. I deliberately didnt listen to any radio today or watch the news well except the sport. You also know its big when AFL360 is on and Footy Classified is back for a special as well. Will tune in and listen to Damo give it to the club.

Gill confirmed that the AFL will not be taking further action against the club and that means that if they finished last then they get pick 1. Not right but I am not surprised.

Gutless Gill.

I pity the poor bugger who is the #1 pick this year, going to a tainted cheating club.  I also pity whomever they picked up this year - forgot his name for now - that skinny guy who should spend a year or so building up his body but who will now be thrown in the deep end.

Hirdy must be so upset as WADA lodge its appeal on the last possible day.

The EFC came so close to getting away with it.

Today got to hurt them to the core!

I actually think it will be easier for him next year

Zero expectations.

Ever loss is accounted for by " we was robbed WADA did us in".

If they pull of a couple of wins he looks good achieving them with a seconds side.

Just next year? Would have thought 2-3 years.

In order to keep another dees supporter alive please do not hold your breath

I seem to think, OD, that was your standard response when I and others were suggesting infraction notices would be issued against players, then WADA would appeal against the AFL Tribunal decision, then CAS would find against them. In all instances, I, and others like BB, WJ, Ted Fidge, and Chris were proven to be correct, In my case in the face of quite vitriolic criticism by certain on here both through posts, and more particularly through quite personally abusive emails (you know who you are - not you OD: your contributions have been sceptical, always polite and often very droll).

Can I suggest you at least acknowledge we know what we are talking about.

Do you think Hird (not Doc Reid, which I'm surprised about) and or others in positions of power at Ess at the time will get penalised further? And if yes who by?

I do believe Hird should be banned for life from this.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

2024 Player Reviews: #35 Harry Petty

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. 2024 Player Reviews: #22 Blake Howes

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

2024 Player Reviews: #10 Angus Brayshaw

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
