Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

at least one essendon supporter gets it

12

A most interesting day in sport, we all should be cheering drug users got caught but a % feels they have been maligned badly, the % need to learn how to read, or read the details or look beyond red and black. Seems a good and fair verdict to me. Cop it on the chin whiners don't do well in Aus.
Jockeys when the outed by the Stewards don't receive payment, seems odd and paly that these guys are going to be paid.
Since 1943 by having relations in Essendon and a frequent visitor to the nearby Aerodrome
I have been a Essendon supporter(Three I was and one of the few things remembered) and still wonder WHY.WHY
But Essendon will return one day that's the way of things so lets get on with it so I have a chance to see it please.
Ah yes Jobe give it back and be well remembered.
Hangerons should just shutup for a month or two...Support the firefighters till winter...

Lyon said the WADA might not be best for team sports.

Team sports sign up to the WADA code include:

Basketball (FIBA)

Soccer (FIFA)

Handball

Hockey

Ice Hockey

Rowing

Rugby

Sailing

Volleyball etc etc etc etc all appear to be team sports let alone how many other team sports signed to the code

I think Essendon got off lightly!
They moved Fitzroy to Brisbane for filling syringes with chocolate and Dulce de leche and injecting their gelato.

The Syberian Bombers has a nice ring to it.

A couple of pre-seasons of below altitude training in the Gulag should have them back on track.

Had dinner with an Essendon staff member tonight.

Unsurprisingly the playing list has been given two days off & were hitting the grog hard tonight.

Those inside the club actually were expecting a good result and were floored by the 12 month penalty.

Do you think Hird (not Doc Reid, which I'm surprised about) and or others in positions of power at Ess at the time will get penalised further? And if yes who by?

I do believe Hird should be banned for life from this.

Gill said there will be no (further) action by the AFL.

But Hird will forever be condemned by the court of public opinion, and will surely never have any rôle in any AFL activity again.   Were he to appear at any footy event he would be roundly booed by the vast majority, many Essendon fans included - it would make Adam Goodes feel universally loved by comparison.

Maybe Syrian would be a better option?

Wowee they were surprised?! Who has advised them for so long and how have they not lobbied for Aust in trade agreements? Sell ice to Eskimos by the sounds of it.

At the very least John Worsfold will have to earn his money next year

Everything John Worsfold and Essendon touch will be under intense scrutiny for years ahead.  Scrutiny has not been nearly so intense in the past. It will be most interesting to observe just what he can achieve from the residue of his playing list this year, and those who choose to return in 2017, in this environment.

That's the thing. Better value was to be had for the pick. What now...something 2ndrate as compared. Brilliant positioning !!!

Bb you've  been pretty spot on with this saga but this quote is a little silly.

There is zero guarentee any player picked at pick 23 would have been ready for afl in 2016.

Do i need to mention our draftiing history haha. ..

It is a wasted yr no doubt but it gives a rookie a chance and we have a senisor recruite in 2017 which could be handy with no first rd pick.

As i said there is no guarentee pick 23 would have played in 2016... ur statement is a little over the top dramatic

And im not attacking u pesonally. The whole melksham debate is over the top imo. Thats all

No different to countries at the Olympics that have separate 'teams' for Swimming, Running, Gymnastics etc.

All those have coaches, doctors and support staff specific to each.

I do believe the appeal is strong In that part of the world. Gill might think, now is the time to strike.

Here is the judgement again for those who haven't seen it ...

Go to page 12 of the document for WADA's submission  - here's a few notable points  ...

  • Mr Dank has a history of use of TB-4 in athlete doping programs.
  • In 2012, the players attended a meeting with Mr Dank at which they signed forms consenting to the administration of four substances, including a specific regimen of 'Thymosin' injections, which matched a prescribed regimen of TB-4 described in an email between Mr Charter and Mr Dank.
  • An analysis of urine samples collected from the players in 2012 also confirmed that the players were injected with TB-4.
  • The players have therefore committed anti-doping rule violations.

Lots of bomber fans running with the 'wada code not set up for teams' line. Wada they talking about, honestly...

Trying to equate it to knowing what's in a flu shot is shocking too; if a gp gave me an std rather than a flu shot I'd sue the living pants off them - which is what you'd expect will happen to the bombers shortly.

If one was to know Reid one would possibly find that very hard to believe as well

Anyone know who does the monitoring of suspended players and where does the money come from if the AFL is going to molly coddle the Bombers?

Is it out of the new TV Rights contract or do Collingwood just pay for it?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
