JUDGEMENT DAY - THE "BOMBER" 34

Some gems in the report - makes for edifying reading, and for anyone who thinks the players are somehow innocent victims in all this:

On 20 April Mr. Melksham sent a text message to Mr. Dank asking, “Do I need to have a drip? Haven’t had one this week.” Mr. Dank replied, “No. Did I inject you this week?” Mr. Melksham said, “Two Thymols”.

It was a stupid risk. A multihundred thousand risk...for what?

For three seasons of Melksham 2017 onwards, and then some hopefully. Practically speaking it's not that different to if he'd done his knee on day 1. He's a long term investment and losing a year isn't a huge deal in the scheme.

Look, I am disappointed and a bit annoyed, but for me it is far outweighed by the relief that justice has been served. They simply can't have been allowed to get away with this.

Significantly, that report says 'urine samples' in 2012 confirmed players were injected with TB4'.  It also says players did not get 'no significant fault' discount because they signed consent forms!!

To repeat what I noted in an earlier post - there is no room at all now, for EFC to try and argue 'but the players did nothing wrong' or the equally banal 'they were duped'.

CAS has slammed the door shut on anyone else in the world trying a similar program.  A very good thing for clean sport.

Beeb, I would be very disappointed if a contingency plan was not in place.

Yes we upgrade a Rookie. He was only a twisted knee away from missing a year anyway. Any trade has risks.

Saints have lost pick 5. Port are bigger losers than us too.

Most on here didn't rate Melksham anyway. It is what it is. We move on.

All I hope for now is that snivelling, [censored]-poor excuse for a man Stephen Dank gets what's coming to him.

Yes like it doesn't affect Hird, Reid.....NOT.

Admittedly not particularly knowledgeable with the legal stuff, but I would have thought the action by the players against the club would be a real concern for any coach or support staff that had anything to do with this, including Goody.

I wonder if Jobe and any of the others will just retire and be done with it? They looked very disheartened and fed up with it at times last year.

I wonder if players will be able to walk to a new club once the ban is over. How you could go back and work at the club who f'd you over is beyond me.

Hopefully the players finally realise they have been led up the garden path the whole time and then realise they have been incredibly poorly advised from the get go by the filthy club. The Cronulla players would be smiling in their cereal this morning I'd expect.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
