Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I to agree with what Plough said. And as far as improvement goes, it depends on what we see as improvement.

I think we'll win at least 9-10 games in 2016 (min) and be a smokey for finals, while plough thinks it will be closer to the 7 mark. He reckons the signs are good as we all do, but that it's a few more years off.

I didn't find it depressing as it's pretty much where i see us at, although see us with at least 2 more wins then Plough does.

I think something as simple as moving Garland forward to allow more opportunities for Frost and Oscar could help our scoring a lot.

Only two months ago Wallet said our list was ahead of the saints on tac future stars. Now he says this.

I haven't heard his assessment on St Kilda, but he didn't say we were behind them.

Sooo...we need a forward support...and more depth in the guts...and we need to tidy up our basic skills

someone quickly Telex the club... wow... we'll be good to go after this revelation !!

I didn't hear it, but I'm not sure why there's such angst.

As I said yesterday, this site is filled with a bunch of sensitive little petals. As soon as anyone says anything that is not 100% positive about the club, or the coach or the playing list, they all fall to pieces.

The reality is that we are a bottom third side right at this moment. And nothing we have done since our last game (delistings, trades, etc) has changed that reality one iota. Some people don't like hearing that though.

Only thing that I can think of is that they've lost Bennell & Dixon and just had a pretty horrid year and not sure what shape O'Meara comes back in.

From a brand perspective they can't have a similarly horrid year, and what Prestia might provide from a on field, competitive viewpoint might offset the loss of return.

If they have a good year next year, maybe they can convince someone of similar value to join, but at the moment they're losing more than they are bringing in.

they need to bring in some mature leaders to offset the culture of spoilt youth... gabjr hasn't really done it.

so to get things right before more kids, they desperately need a Jnr Mc type, a mitchell/hodge, leaders...

I could equally say that some people like wallowing in despair and miss no opportunity to moan and groan. Not changed 'one iota'? Really?

Looks like the Carlisle to St Kilda deal is going ahead. Likely to involve Saint's 2016 first round pick.

They've stepped away from their 5 year plan they started in Watters final year then. No trading 1st round picks for that period. 2017 is the final year of that plan, so how do they justify it?

If we can't land another key forward, or get more pace through the midfield to help our forwards more, it's going to be harder to convince Hogan to stay. I suspect the presentation they gave him and the plan they have doesn't involve bringing in blokes like Melksham. As much as I like the trade for Melksham, it just proves that we're a feeder club willing to take anyone that wants to come to us.

We don't have a Carlisle, Treloar, Aish, Dangerfield, even Bennell, wanting to come to us, yet all of these players offer us *exactly* what we need.

It's quite depressing, really.

Prudent if true. They'd back themselves to finish higher than 2015. Most likely a later pick. And utilise pick 5 this draft.

"Essendon have rejected St.Kilda's offer for Jake Carlisle.

- Sam Landsberger

No reports of what the actual offer was."

Looks like it's Pick 5 or nothing. Fair stance from Essendon, Carlisle is an established, young CHB. Don't grow on trees.

It's just a ridiculous statement. As ridiculous as saying at the end of 2014 that Port were a top 8 side and nothing they did by way of delistings or trades would change that. Nek Minnit ...

Lions brought in one of the biggest A-list players traded last year. How has that changed their "reality", when if anything they've gone backwards?

The reality is that even if we do zero trades, we'll have a longish list of players to add to our list, simply because of the long/er term injury situation to players like Petracca, Frost, Trengove, and even Salem, Pedersen, Kent etc. Some of those names are in our first-picked, most should be.

Without even starting on improvement with the younger players. How good could Brayshaw be this year?

etc. etc.

As you show with post after post, you're simply an out and out pessimist, and are confusing "reality" with "negativity".

Oh for god's sake ...

The problem for some posters is that they either believe that A graders or instant game changers grow on trees, or clubs are willing to part with them easily. Neither is true. Outside of Danger and, to a lesser extent Treloar, none of those types are truly out there on the market. But people are sucked in to this idea that we have to land a gun in this trade period or else a sinkhole will swallow the team up and we will disappear from existence.

The club is doing exactly what they should be - while they test the market they are bringing in experience and talent that will add to our list. They aren't A graders or game changers but they improve our depth and our ability to compete on a consistent basis. Everyone knows that when we did compete for 4 quarters we looked like a damn good side. If we do that more often then there is no reason why we can't add to our win tally in 2016.

But no, unless the next coming of GAJ falls in our lap then we all have to be depressed. Give me a break.

Highlights - pick 120 came into play

North Melbourne has not given up hope of securing Brisbane midfielder James Aish. The Magpies remain the frontrunner, but the Roos have this week renewed their interest.

St Kilda has tabled a new offer to Essendon for Jake Carlisle. It comes after Hawthorn's big play for him yesterday. The Saints say Carlisle is still committed to them.

North Melbourne's Ryan Bastinac has met with Brisbane officials today about a possible move to the Lions.

Jed Anderson was today officially traded from the Hawks to the Roos, with the Hawks receiving back a first round pick from the Roos, as well as another exchange of picks.

Curtley Hampton was today traded from the GWS Giants to the Adelaide Crows in exchange for the club's second round pick in next year's NAB AFL Draft.

Geelong ruckman Dawson Simpson today moved to the GWS Giants as a backup ruckman for Shane Mumford. He moves as an unrestricted free agent.

Jacob Townsend will play for the Tigers next season after being traded to the Tigers, along with pick 120, in exchange for the club's pick 70.

Hawthorn midfielder Brendan Whitecross has met with GWS this week as the Giants make a play for the unrestricted free agent. He has also met with the Lions.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
