Article about Christian's first day in the US:-
Traccin in the USA

An understandably low key start but I thought this was really intersting:

"Billy said it is very easy to regain your slow twitch muscle fibres as endurance training only needs a few sessions to blow the cobwebs out and you are basically back to being fit again. But with sprint training, it takes a lot longer and you need time and patience to recover and regain that power and explosiveness that you once had".

From the article it sounds like there is good communication between our physio, Joel Armes and the ACL rehab expert Billy Knowles.

Hope they can weave their magic and get Christian back to where he needs to be to become a star for us

When I first heard about this a few months ago, I did a quick Google/YouTube investigation of Petracca's specialist Bill Knowles. He sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

One thing I found particularly promising is his focus on not just "returning from injury," but staying uninjured year after year. He said that a lot of athletes focus on getting back, only to relapse not long after because their "rehabilitation" program (Knowles doesn't like that term, preferring to focus on the more psychologically appealing term "retraining") wasn't properly focused on the long term.

Fingers crossed.

I could be wrong, but it sounds as if Ames has gone on the trip with him. Nice to know the club is leaving no stone unturned in getting this right.

I look forward to reading the rest of Petracca's diaries.

Precious commodity.

I'd send Hogan to a finger specialist in Slovenia if that's what he needed.

Can't ruin players anymore with poor management. Just ask Trengove!

Tex Walker went to the same joing that Chriztian is now..

Wrong sci-fi franchise. Someone should nuke you from orbit.

Ha ha Sci Fi theme, can be any franchise I choose.

I'd prefer it if you were the one being nuked...

OMG he sounds like one tough and fully committed guy. So glad to have him on our list.

Just can't wait to see him up and firing, with Gus, Jessie, Jack V, Christian S and the rest of our committed young brigade.

What a breath of fresh air.

I hope at least one of our coaches went with him to get some information on the work these guys are doing and why. I would like to see the notes Christian is taking. I hope he comes back with a whole bunch of them and there is a complete de-brief.

Hope someone takes him shopping while he's there.... Very questionable fashion sense.

America ain't the place to shop if you're looking for fashion.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
