So did Clay Sampson and Steven Armstrong.

If they do they do they're still "good ordinary", which makes them less likely than likely in my view.

Any other scenarios you can mention that won't mean anything to me ?

Melksham is seriously underrated. Great skills on both sides of the body. Certainly doesn't lack pace (check the chase down tackle in this clip)

He will thrive under Goody and is EXACTLY what we need off half back.

We will be a 2-3 goal better team with him in it.

Hibberd on the other flank and we have 2 goal kicking half backs.

Loved the goals from 2 feet outside the boundary line. He better not get used the umps giving him leeway as he won't get it at the dees.

yeah...great kick but never a goal

He can certainly kick it with gusto..  The goal where he spears  it also translate to a 'press killer' of a pass from half back.  If your team mates know to be SOMEwhERE that just sails over defences... None of this rain maker shlt !!

I recall he managed to kick goals against us...hopefully he can kick a few for us.

In the time he played at Essendrug Hardtack that would not have been all that hard.

Kicking goals against the MFC during the 2010 - 2015 period is no recommendation of ability.

I would have thought the opposite would be true. If you could not kick them against us you had a limited life as an AFL player.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but if you look at every premiership team going to back to say, 1897, you'll see that the bottom 6-8 players could be described as 'good ordinary footballers'.

It's 'P Diddy's' stock reply to go for the GF analogy on any topic.

Does get boring after a while.

Perhaps if you revisit the post you responded to you'll see I simply said that I'm still underwhelmed by them as players.  And that they'll probably not run out on GF day when we get there.

For some reason you then felt the need to state the bleeding obvious.  We all know that role players get a medal sound their neck.  It's my view that these two probably won't get that opportunity.

Let's hope that you, me and fanboy above find out.

I still am.

Good ordinary players who are great for the club's depth and both are presently best 22, but when we're in the hunt for a flag I doubt either will be running out on GF day.

But I agree they've been worthwhile recruits and better than I expected.

Agree on Bugg, got a feeling Kennedy can keep improving and surprise people.

What has he been doing this year?

I mentioned over the page that he had a kid this year, so presumably he's been getting thrown up on, slapped in the face, screamed at, eye gouged, pooed on, praying and being deprived of sleep, rest and any semblance of peace.

Congratulations to him. Sounds like good practice for playing alongside big Maxy.

He'll be a good addition next year. I think he's being underrated on here. He's slot straight into the midfield or half back and finish top 10 in our bnf, maybe top 5 depending on the role he plays. He's got all the right skills, decent pace and toughness, and in a fresh environment with the weight lifted he will flourish.

Wow sounds like we should double his salary.

Um, you don't need to be a professional to work out he is not a fast player.

From the limited footage I have seen of him - I have not watched EssUndone games since their systematic cheating scheme was first revealed - he certainly doesn't appear to be slow though.  And he can kick!

We could have used him this season with Salem out and our back 6 undergoing a restructure. His experience will be handy but I am keeping my expectations in check.

Sounds like a typical Mad Monday!

Sometimes having a child gives AFL footballers perspective and a sense of wider purpose beyond playing and partying with their mates. A maturing effect of sorts. Will be interesting to see if it has an effect on Jake.

Doh! Can't the bugger stay at home with his young family instead of going out with his mates all the time?

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
