Do t know a lot about him myself.

No one I know rates him.

Not a lot of love for him on FB.

Going of the 1 year for Pedo and no contract for Toumpas if the club does pick him up surely it's for two years on minimum wage.

Heard from a source up here near corowa that has has signed with us for 4 years. Dunno if you can sign anything till you actually been traded. I choose to believe the source.

Gonna need more than the Jake [censored] Milkman rumour to keep my interest for the rest of the year.

Putting aside what we give for him and how much we pay him.

I actually think he will add to this team. To me another Dom Tyson type player, no outstanding qualities, just good contested football players. If anything he is a better mark and quicker then Dom. Just doesn't find as much of the footy.

I've watched him the past few years and he has the ability to slip through opposition tackles. Has good agility with ball in hand. Something we currently lack.

He's at that age that players sometimes stagnate as expectation outweighs production and a new club can really benefit them.

Remember how much Nath Jones was floundering under Bailey, reduced to being a tagger and not using the ball well at all. A coaching change and big preseason later he was our best player.

That's the best result with Melksham and might not happen but it is possible he improves quickly.

Personally I think the team would improve quicker with a more natural outside mid or half back than another depth midfielder who probably needs to play in the centre square to be at his best. But with the interchange cap dropping adding depth isn't a bad idea. Adding another mature mid might send the message that we aren't a young side any more and expectations are real. Having a deeper midfield rotation might also facilitate better development conditions for our youngsters playing forward and back.

Ok, so I'm in the underwhelmed camp when it comes to Melksham.

That said, he played his best footy in 2013 with Goodwin as midfield coach when he averaged nigh on 20 disposals and kicked 16 goals, which is none too shabby, It was his 4th year and he'd progressed every year in the system. And then comes Essendon's "saga". Supposedly he's been effected by this shambles as badly as any. I've also read where he's been played out of position and it will flourish more as a genuine mid.

In other words... While I'm far from excited about this possibility, the people making the decisions know far more than me; and when I consider their decisions last year, besides Lamumba, they nailed the trade/draft period. So I'll back them again.

Yet to talk to or see a single Essendon supporter that's disappointed about losing him. Not a single one.

Even the most maligned players on here like Howe, Toumpas and Watts have their supporters!

"The Age" online this afternoon reports that out-of-contract Melksham wants to depart Essendoom and the Dees are interested . Any intel on this ?

Same, and they are notorious for overrating their players.

If we sign him and he comes in and performs, the humble pie will taste delicious. The impact of the drugs saga is a relative unknown in terms of the degree it has affected each individual. It may well have hit him harder than most.

I'm still wary as hell.

Far be it for me to become the great Melksham defender, but they would have been disappointed at the end of 2013 when he came top 5 in their B&F.

And before you throw Matt Jones and Terlich at me, Essendon won 14 games and finished 7th on the ladder. They weren't a 2 win - 54% team.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
