Stretchy's best game. Made good decisions, tackled ferociously, kicked it well and got involved. His work rate was terrific.

He's a very smart footballer, with all the right tools. Overshadowed by Hogan and Brayshaw, but I'm confident he's going to be a very good long term regular.

We need to draft Quality mids and Players who run hard off half back.

With Pettraca to still debut i hope we trade picks at the top end for experience

We need 23-27 year olds Match fit.

Viney, Brayshaw, Salem, Stretch, Vandenburg, Petracca, Harmes, ANB and White all shown ability to give us depth in the midfield dept and all drafted by the new FD

Told you in another thread they were not inept

Still keen on trading Jones there WYL?

Depends on the Trade Chook. We need leaders.

A win in a dead rubber doesn't change the situation we watched in the previous month.

Can Jonesy lead us up the ladder when he hasn't been there himself?

First time I've gone into an off-season with genuine optimism about our future. It's clear we're still miles off, but our youth development is finally on track.

Any thoughts on Dunns return to forward line.

Is it a once of or a permanent change of direction?

A once off with Dawes/Pedo both injured I reckon. He looks far more comfortable in defence, he doesn't seem to read the ball anywhere near as well in attack. I loved his set shot goal in the third quarter though.

Yet you let go the genius who said two thirds of the teams will finish the year with a loss...

LMAO.

He let it go because it is correct.

Exactly 2/3 of the teams will finish the year with a loss.

Work it out and come back next week once you have...

If anyone could post a copy of the photo that would be much appreciated.

You'd be suprised how well they'd bond together after a win in the last round leading into going out having a beer and good time together

It just gives the whole team a positive springboard for the off-season. Would've hated to end on a loss.

Funny to read all the Saints fans wetting themselves about possibly getting Parish now. Yeah, until your list management decide to skip the best midfielder for extenuating circumstances again.

He is slow and doesn't know how to find enough of the ball. He also struggles to find space. Will be lucky to be on our list after next year I would say

He has at least 2 more years contracted DH, so no I doubt he'll be delisted end of next year. Club has clearly backed him with his last extension.

I've said this to others since his debut you notice a lot of good things from him live that you miss on TV. His tackling is great for his size. His skills are good and he makes smart decisions and as he gets used to the pace of the game he'll get better in that regard. Work rate is great.

So much of our Etihad hoodoo has come from not having good outside runners and half backs as you have to move the ball quickly or you'll get trapped in the small ground.

No surprise that Stretch, Salem and White were a big part of the win.

There was a moment in the second or fourth quarter, where he turned into the corridor, as that's where a lot of his options were. He then turned back towards the boundary and kicked to a one-on-one that a Melbourne bloke was never going to win, but just needed to kill over the line for the reset. I was really impressed with the maturity shown here. Good signs.

Average age of team today 23y 175d

Missing from a 'best' team are possibly:

Watts

Lumumba

Dawes

Pederson

Tyson

Vandenberg

Frost

Kent

Jetta

Plus

Trengove

Petracca

Interesting there wasn't much tagging today so Jones, Vince and Viney played with a fair amount of freedom. The attack when they moved the ball quickly certainly seemed better.

Umpires are still a disgrace at this level.

Well, it was Wallace umpiring, so figures. He's hopeless.

On a serious note, one of the most pleasing things I've taken out of this year is how tight-knit our young core seems to be.

There will be people on here who'd probably know more about it than I would, but by going off Instagram/Twitter the camaraderie, or sense of belonging, seems to be building nicely.

This is a very big call but this has Geelong dynasty written all over again.. All drafted together, Playing footy together, becoming young leaders and driving this club up the ladder as one and creating that close bond that the Geelong players did.

I feel we had a good side out there today. Our forward line looks a lot more exciting with Hogan as the main target and several medium targets. Newton, though he has flaws, could be a very important player in our team.

Harmes shows a real asset of physicality which we need, now Salem looks like he can lay a crunching tackle too. JKH was pretty good too. We saw some good footy from our youngsters to bring hope into next season. Those 3 goals in a few minutes at the end of the third were the difference and very abnormal for us

Anyway, a shame that 1/4 of our members couldn't turn up. QUOTE

I think it was a good protest from our members about the last 4 weeks.

His tackle on Cameron was enormous.

He was never, ever, going to let him go.

Baby faced assassin.

I think Dunn can play a variety of roles next year if all goes well. If Frost and Oscar step up he can play off a half back flank instead of full back, he can swing forward when required as that is where he started and importantly as a member of the leadership team he should be able to go into the middle as a big body clearance player when we are getting smashed early if required.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
