Disagree that they're vying for the same spot. ANB is a tough inside midfield that will play mostly forward for the first two or three years. Harmes showed some terrific toughness today that I hadn't seen from him before, but think he'll play more forward or on a wing.

Particularly the first half this was led by the kids: Harmes, Hogan, Brayshaw, Viney, Salem and White.

Feels a bit weird putting Viney in the "kids" list doesn't it? It feels like he's been forever - I find it easy to forget he's only a pup still.

Absolutely. Him and Bernie seem to be a pair. Both went in to a stretch of horrid form together and busted out of it together in emphatic fashion in the last game. They're both so important to our fortunes.

Great debut by Mitch White today. 16 disposals, 6 marks, 93.7%. He's quite a bit bigger than I thought as well.

It's amazing how much better the team looks when they're given license to attack. We looked legitimately dangerous today.

I think we may have quite a scary-looking team next year. If you factor in basic improvement in the youngsters, add guys like Petracca, Frost, Tyson and possibly Trengove to the mix and assume the removal of a couple of our worst butchers. There's some firepower beginning to make an appearance.

I think we need some quality midfield depth at the top-end, and then you might be right.

Doesn't surprise me that Howe and maybe Watts/Grimes are tradebait. Get picks, turn picks into good mature players.

Maybe even get a couple of late teen/early 20 picks and trade six instead?

Not everyone. They never really looked like it today. We were on top from the opening bounce. Gawn was probably the matchwinner. Amazing what taps to advantage do for a team. We made them look slow today.

I thought the tone was set early by the youngsters - Harmes, Brayshaw and Viney in particular in the first half. The senior players stepped up in the latter half lead by Jones and Vince.

Nice to finish the season off strongly. Wasn't the perfect game in terms of ball use, but the effort was definitely there.

Loved the interview with Crossy. He was clearly on another planet, but it was great to see him able to be chaired off like he deserved. In a strange kind of way it seemed a fitting way to end his career - getting smashed in a desperate attempt to win a contest.

Happened a few times this year.......needs to be re calibrated to withstand the negativity.

Today we also played 5 of the 6 youngest players on our list (Petracca was the other one).

Each of those 5 are also teenagers.

Of our ten youngest players, only Jayden Hunt, Max King and Christian Petracca were missing today!

And none of them looked like duds.

Maybe a couple of years from now we'll be having the 'drafting or development' argument facing the other way, deciding who to thank more out of Taylor and McCartney.

Today's side had Viney, Gawn, Salem, Michie, Harmes, White, OMac, Newton, Stretch, Hogan, Brayshaw, JKH and ANB.

Most experienced of these players is Viney with 49 games.

Tyson, Kent, Frost, VDB, Toumpas and Petracca also on the list, none with more than 50 games experience.

Interesting point HT...would that make us the youngest side next year??

My highlight today was the pre-emptive retaliation by Brayshaw who was targeted by some plonker who thought he would give him a hip and shoulder but failed miserably when Brayshaw turned towards him and got him first. That's the spirit we need from the youngsters.
