Did any other Demonlanders notice the musculature on their young first gamer, Langdon?

It was in sharp contrast to our pencil thin Oscar McDonald. Also compared to ANB and Stretch with young, thin bodies.

Funny, that.

I'll never forget when Troy Simmonds went to Freo.

At Melbourne, he was so skinny you could see all the lumps in his bones sticking out. He wasn't a teenager, and I thought he just can't make it with a body like that.. After a pre season at Freo he became a muscle -bound powerful ruck man

West Coast have similar skills in body building. I guess it's the warm climate.

Matthew Pavlich and Nat Fyfe were once skinny.. funny how that turned out?

WC were renowned for their body building skills when Mick was in charge...just sayin

Melbourne has been a team of weeds since Northey. How come we never draft men?

AVB, Viney, Brayshaw, Pettracca, wouldn't call these blokes weeds, all very recent though.

The burgers in Perth are really fattening.

Brayshaw has spaghetti arms. I was alarmed when I first saw him, but it doesn't seem to have been much of a limitation so far. He's deceptively strong.

Agree on the others, though it's worth noting that vandenBerg was drafted mature (was 23 in round 1). Viney had also already had several years in our system before the draft.

Brayshaw is pretty sold for a 19 year old.... I imagine first day of pre-season next year people will be surprised when he is built like a brick sh*thouse

I think age plays a big factor in this. I remember reading that muscles and bone aren't at their peak until late twenties, may need someone to confirm that though.

You don't need big arms, you need power through the core. He has that in spades.

Has been a pet peeve of mine since forever.
That we draft weeds and none of them know where the gym is.
Ever since the 80' during our patches of improvement.
We'd go ok with abit of speed and skill till we ran into the strong clubs and then get monstered by power.
Time after time after time.
Pizzes me off no end.

The team on top of the ladder has bigger, stronger and more experienced players?

Not the best photo but here is ANB and Langdon in the same image.

Doesn't look much between them to me.

Hardly a shock that Stretch or O Mc are skinny. That's how most 19 year olds are, especially outside runners or talls. Those 2 in particular are just getting a taste of AFL footy. Let's worry more about senior players with years in the system having the wrong body shapes than first year kids.

McLean, Syliva, Moloney, and Read all came into the club about the same time and... ah gee, it really is sarcasm week for me. Something about hardening us up and getting the big results, dominating stoppages and all that. Yep. Super.

As for the Dockers and West Coast mobs,... who knows. More sunlight means more muscle growth? More time at the beach means more motivation to get ripped and show off? We'll see what happens to the Gold Coast kids in the next couple of years.

The Dees pick up some good midfield players in Brayshaw,Petracca,Vander,Hunt, and Harmes (185-188 cm) and other positional players in White,O.Mac and Stretch. In the past we would pick up smaller mids who would get constantly get [censored] f..ked by the oppostion. There are very good smalls out but not many.We need talls for forward and defence will the ability to ruck.Another 2 strong body mids would be good.Personally I would go for Weidemann he is a bit like Darcy Moore and the diamond in the rough for a small mid would be Mason Redman reminds me of an uncut version of Ablett jnr. Havn't decided on the defender and big body mid. The so called fringe players that avoid the cull years end I would try to turn them into "killing machines" thus avoiding rebuild mark 6

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
