Jack Redden

That might be a hard sell to Howe.

I am not sure he want to go to a club that is worse than the Dees.

If the options were the Lions or the Dees I know which one I would take.

3 way deal? Redden to dees, Howe to GWS, GWS pick and/or player to Brisbane

Lions might be one team that might look at Dawes to fill a gaping hole.

Even if they get Schache, he won't be ready straight away.

Redden's a yes with caveats from me. Not worth a high first rounder.

Very good two way player. Not an out and out star, but doesn't put in many bad games either.

Would be a good one to take the load off Jonesy and probably along the lines of what the recruiting team would have hoped Riley might be.

Brisbane must have the smell of Death...The arrogant way they dragged Fitzroy's casket up North i shall never forget (I remember some Faceless Corporate President Laughing about the deal he had secured during the Press Conference)

What was in the Juice they were all shot with back when Thug Matthews was head hunted??

Pity WADA was yet to be born...i doubt the 3peat would have eventuated.

No Sympathy as the players walk except it will cost us $$$ and players for many years...

The Dees smell like embalming fluid in comparison...

Just bored, Wise, bored.

I'm sick of drafting [censored] players.

I don't know if I would class Redden as a 'crap' player, but I get your drift.

I use this line with most players on the market - I'd be happy with him at the right price. I don't want the FD to panic and overpay for someone like him as we simply can't afford to do it. If he came to the club at a fair price then he would be a handy addition and an instant best 22 player for the club.

I'm interested in us getting better. Redden would make us better. He can turn it over but usually pretty reliable by foot. He's a very solid player. I was hoping one of Newton, Riley or Michie would make it. I don't believe they will. Redden is a massive upgrade on them. I think a change of scenery would freshen him up too. He's a B/B+ midfielder. Similar to Jones leading into his three B & F years. I want pace, contested ball winning ability and elite kicking as key criteria for future mids but that's a very tough thing to find. It's even harder to find if you're us. We need to be realistic about where we're at. Redden is the type of trade that would make us better. We've got to draft A graders and trade for B graders until we become a potential top 4 team and then we might be able to pinch an established star looking for a premiership. Jones, Vince, Tyson, Viney, Brayshaw, vandenBerg and Redden is a good start with genuine hope in Petracca, Stretch and Neal-Bullen. That's 10 midfielders plus Kent, Salem and Watts. Add an emerging A grade ruck in Gawn and we're getting there. It's still the midfield isn't it?

In terms of repairing the list, he's exactly the type of player we need, talent and age wise. Opportunities like this won't drop from the sky as we saw during the last trade period when it was assumed we'd find that other A grader to add to the midfield rotation. What the right price would be is a separate question but it's a no brainer to be making some enquiries.

Some people rate Jack Watts but not Redden. It would be funny if it wasn't true.

Redden makes us better, but he has stagnated. He's on a par with Nathan Jones, but is he too similar with our other mids ?

I wouldn't knock back anyone who makes us better. But he's not a 'must have'.

But why would he want to leave a bottom club to join another bottom club. I wouldn't.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Brisbane

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
