Chris Dawes

The discussion of Dawes is starting to spill over into other threads like a dropped mark over the boundary line. Joke. But let's stop discussing Chris as to structure, yards and stats (e.g. 6 goals for the season). Let's all watch the replay of the last game and we can pin-point the specific contests we'd like to talk about. Easy. State your time-code and then chat away. Mark, no mark, good lead, second effort - no need for speculation, just use the footage to back your argument.

He wasn't much better at Collingwood, still don't know why we picked him up in the first place.

To be honest I prefer Peterson as a CHF/Ruck role over Dawes.

We definitely need to draft a CHF this year.

The simple fact is he gets his hands into position to clean mark so many balls, and he 2 grabs and fails to mark most of them. We don't get it forward enough to have luxury of dropping all our hard work.

I've been a fan of his until this year. I like his work rate and pressure etc... But he's not dropping balls 15m out with a crumber at his feet like the old days. They're further out and costly.

The other simple fact is there's no one better to replace him at the moment. So what can you do?

and inb4 his work off the ball. Someone else can do that. We need another KPF. Not only does Dawes drop it he somehow does it so we lose the contests entirely and then interferes with our crumbers in his second ' efforts'.

As none of what you have just written was true today, it is just garbage.

6 marks today, would have thought that a fair return.

Dawes has his limitations, but he is a flag winning CHF and the best we have ATM. Of course it would be great if we could replace him with someone better, but right now I just want more consistency from him. When he plays well, we tend to win. Eg Thought he was very good early against Brisbane, hardly noticed him in the second half.

His premiership medal is totally irrelevant.

He is unco as.

Cale Mortons brother has a premiership medal also.

We don't owe Dawes anything.

He owes the MFC big time.

He should accept a reduced salary next year or pack it in.

You weren't getting enough love in the post match discussion thread for bagging him so you decided to make a separate thread to feed your ego?

Nice work, mate.

So does Nathan Ablett.

Just helped us win a game of footy against his old mob for our first win against them for 8 years.

He has received little other than backhanded compliments.

I am sorry to tell you this - Hogan's Forwardline needs him.

He is horribly out of marking touch and confidence, although it is getting a little better, but the way he competes and advances the footy and takes attention from Hogan are a few of the reasons why we won with 44 Inside 50s.

I will back him to regain some marking form and that will make him one of the better 2nd targets in the league.

Interesting that Dawes only gets praise after wins. Plays at an acceptable level once we're in front, rest of the time he looks like he shouldn't be out there.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
