Overuse of the footy in wet conditions seems to be a theme for us over the last month or two - definitely a coaching error that should be fixed at quarter time, not let to run on for quarters / games in a row - particularly with this mob who for some stupid reason STILL don't have satisfactory skills at AFL level.
I can only hope that Roos is actually forcing a few lessons upon the playing group and taking 'a few for the team' because we seem to be making absolutely simple and fundamental football errors across the board and yet they're not being fixed week to week. If this is not the case then questions do in fact need to be asked.

Times like this when you give up your Sunday avo, go to the football (at 3:20?), sit in the pouring rain, pay over $7 for watered down beer, you really begin to ask yourself how you get so sucked in, so fired up - I virtually embarrass myself with how much I yell out at the footy. And for what? The same tripe year in year out, really finding it hard to see improvement and development. Won't stop me going because I love the club too much - but please MFC, please start showing some consistency and a decent upwards trend.

I agree about the skills, some horrible clangers but watching the second half I kept thinking we looked like some representative side cobbled together for a one off match, that is there are some footballers with talent there who know what to do with the ball but no obvious game plan and no understanding of each others skills or movements. We are not working as a unit in any way or form. Players or coaching? Damned if I know or care anymore.

We were appalling flat track bullies under Bailey. Got utterly smashed by the slightest hint of pressure.

At least with bailey we got entertained every second week.

Even when we 'rarely' win Roos bores the [censored] out of me.

I refused to watch the Swans when he coached.

I refused to watch the Aints and Dockers under Lyon.

Now I'm stuck watching this garbage week in week out.

Soidee, most definitely we have seen the peak of the sport of Australian Rules Football.

It was undisputedly Australias game 10 years ago. No sport lasts forever and the fever pitch excitement around soccer amongst under 20s is beginning of the end for this game. It will take a few decades to play out but the AFL will never be as strong as yesterday.

It'd be forgiven if he could actually coach us to victories with unwatchable rubbish. Time and time again we're left in the cold and wet after scoring half a dozen goals at the MCG (and leaking as many goals to the opposition in less than a quarter)

186 had nothing to do with Bailey, and you know it. It was a playing group protesting against a micromanaging off-field team that undermined the progress Bailey, the coaching staff and the on-field leaders were having.

I've read this before on this site. A 'protest' that results in a nearly record loss, becomes a historical stain against the club and the players representing it on that day and obviously would reflect most on the coach, come on you can't be serious! Surely that would be an act of bast!rdry beyond comprehension!

So who organised and led this decision?

I clearly recall that the Ox was making expert comments on the game and in the pre-match he was very optimistic that the Demons would knock the cats off that day. He had connections to the club and you would think if there was any truth in it, he would have mentioned it at some point later.

Correct, I also ask myself whether he's trapped in the footy of a decade ago. No, he's not entirely, but I'm not sold his on his ability to run with the times.

Exhibit A - what the fark was Michie doing as sub. He is good in wet weather but ffs, he's an accumulator - he works his way into games and will never be an impact player. Now he'll be omitted again when he might've made a bit of a difference. He also might not have but what is the point? Riley would've been a better option if the aim is to make an impact.

Agreed, he hasn't lost the players by any stretch. Just don't think he's provided an answer that they believe in yet.
