Let's see what the next 8 weeks brings before claiming that the 'truth' of our stagnancy is confirmed.

So anyone watch 360? Did he take Roos 'to task'?

Whipped him with a lettuce leaf. Severly.

But it's not one game.

It's exactly what we did last year.

Beat crows in Adelaide, beat the Tigers, lost to Brisbane here

This year so far, beat cats in Geelong, Tigers and bullies who were flying at the time.

Lose to saints with 43 seconds to go, throw away big leads to port and GWS, lose to a demoralised bombers.

So far, nothing really has changed. Unless we win 3+ more games this year then I'll call this year a failure.

Yes we have improved and are more competitive, but like Roos said last night, we are now past just being competitive and have to win these games.

Not angry anymore is saying this talk os premature though, because there are still plenty of games left this season.

How improvement is normalisation. You can improve and still lose games.

We need to "turn a corner", as they say.

You don't win friends with salad/you don't sign members by losing

I fully accept that I am probably a little demented. Certainly, based on the vitriol on this thread, I'm in a tiny minority (of one...!). But, I personally don't mind Robbo. I watch AFL 360 most nights, and I certainly understand why people say what they say about Robbo. But, maybe I've grown used to the way he is. There's certainly no veneer with him. What you see is what you get. And, frankly, over the past couple of years, he's often been pretty much the lone voice in the media sticking up for the Dees.

Maybe I don't expect much. But, compared with the absolute drivvle we get rolled out to us with the commentators & "special comments" clowns on most of the telecasts of the games these days, I really don't mind dear old Robbo!

Okay. I've got big shoulders. Stick the boots in guys! I'm ready for ya! LOL

Robbo lost all my respect with the way he has reported the Essendon SAGA. Other than that, I am with you, he calls it as he sees it, even if he does seem to be drunk most of the time.

he is certainly no great literary genius though, or even close to a Mike Sheahan replacement but who could be.

Agree Vagg. He's far from the worst commentator out there, and has an often unique take and a love of footy. Don't know about the Essendon/WASADA thing cos stopped reading and listening to it years ago.

I agree with alot of that.

I don't mind Robbo on a personal level and he's good to listen to in a pub conversation sense, but I can't respect him as a serous voice on anything, including footy. He's ignorant on almost every subject not involving Melbourne nightlife and football, and he's a shocking writer. It's absolutely amazing that he is employed as a print journalist, let alone risen to become chief journalist. I'm not knocking him for getting there, but it's just amazing to me because he can't write.

I must admit I'm totally ignorant of his writing skills, being in Qld, and immune to the Hun. (Only buy it one day a year to get the team photo.)

I prefer Robbo's warts 'n all approach on the telly to that of some of the self-important prima donnas prancing around in the guise of footy "experts" at the moment. At least he doesn't take himself too seriously...

He does and he doesn't.

His block list on Twitter is infamous, in that anyone who questions his stance on anything seems to earn themselves a block. He tends to get extremely defensive when he is challenged, which isn't the hallmark of someone who doesn't take themselves seriously.

I admire and enjoy his passion for the game. But he's pretty much comic relief on 360 for me. I listen to Buckley, Whateley and others for educated football talk.

This is all drifting away from whether we've improved or not :) I'm willing to reserve final judgement til the end of the season, but there it still a mountain of work to do. The Cats game fooled me. Fool me once etc. It will take 3 or 4 consecutive performances of at least that level for me to be convinced the corner has been properly turned.

Fooled most of us I think, P-man. Sadly since then we've been made bigger fools. Never again?

I notice James Hird was described as dopey after his concussion - how would you know?

It was Tania that said so, so it was probably in her notes ...

interesting how tania seems to be the only one associated with that ga club who can find their notes

Unfortunately not as young as Essendon or some others

Seems to me we've been "the young Demons side" for about 40 years. This is touted as some sort of excuse for losing most games, inconsistency, the sinking of the titanic and all other ills. In the 50s we had many very young players too but we won premierships. Edited by Kali

It hasn't.

Over him. When he speaks he talks, pauses, talks, asks a question, pauses, goes on to say "can we, can we do that" before pausing again, then more talking.

Occasionally he has something worth saying but like Dermie it gets lost in amongst all the other rot. I don't believe he has the knowledge of the game to hold the position he holds.

I'm sick of the oversaturation of the football media in general. Melbourne losing all the time doesn't help but what annoys me is there is no accountability and everyone's opinions seem to change week-to-week based on the previous weekend's results.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
