Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is Goodwin safe?

Buckley is going pretty well imo.

I don't mind him as a coach.

Buckley is close to my favourite part of AFL 360

I think it would be in his best interests to stay at Melbourne. He's getting the apprenticeship he needs and has the capacity to build and grow his own squad. They'd need to offer him $1 million a year for him to move, which they won't do and would be stupid to. If he were to go to Adelaide it would be the romantic factor. I don't think he'll go. He'd be silly to.

I much prefer to listen to Buckley than Roos.

That's because Roos has been Melbourne'd. One and a half seasons is all it takes for your opinion and skill level to be put into question.

I agree. I always assumed his figjam moniker was fairly close to the mark but he comes across as forthright, pragmatic and intelligent.

He answers questions sensibly and honestly without falling into the AFL cliched nonsense that you get from most

Goodwin has already turned the Crows down once, stating that he as "too far up the path with the MFC".

Well, he's even further up the path now and even with the circumstances with which the Crows are looking for a coach, I cannot see Goodwin back-flipping that much and leaving.

I get that he's a favourite son of AFC and the emotional attachment between club and player must still be very strong however, he's a young coach that will probably have a career in coaching that spans several clubs.

He'll stay.

U can just c it happening.

At the end of the season Goodwin says sorry fellas given the circumstances I've got to help my old club out.

It's the Melbourne way.

Wonder what would happen then apart from the implosion that would occur here on DL.

Would Roos stay longer???

In all honesty nothing surprises me about this club any more

Paul roos comments regarding coaches contracts not being taken seriously last week are suddenly more interesting.

Pre-emptive strike from Roosy?

That appeared to be more directed at the actual 'clubs' not taking contracts seriously and allowing the coaches time to effect any change.

Hadn't considered it to be the other way about... Doubt it though.

Forgive me for this, but what's so good about Goodwin anyway?

Yes, we've put 9 months of development in to him and it would set us back a little if he left, but what has he done to date to suggest he is worthy of two years of hand holding plus a three year senior coach's contract?

Particularly by way of comparison to Luke Beveridge who was available at the same time, has a much better coaching pedigree and has been super impressive to date.

fair point he is untested as a senior coach no different than a young player with potential.

Im not worried if we lose Goodwin, Id love to get Stuart Dew as senior assistant

Im more annoyed the Crows showing zero class and trying to screw with our own plans

Until they sign someone else, it's always a possibility due to the emotion involved. Whether or not he had a tie with Phil Walsh himself, he would feel for his old club at this time and if they came to him talking "family first" and telling him how much they need him at this time, then perhaps he will change his plans to re-join them.

From all reports it would be a loss for us, but we heard great reports and references about our last couple of coaches too.

Given the circumstances, I definitely wouldn't hold it against him.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
