Yesterday 17th June, Myself and my wife and our little boy ( 4 ) was invited to see Jesse Hogan

I sponsor him and we missed the breakfast the club has scheduled with him the other week due to my wife Illness,

I spoke to lovely woman Celia McDonald , who nothing seemed to be a problem ,

Explaining my wife illness to her , she helped us re arrange a date and time , for not only us to have a chat with Jesse

but to hand over the letter our girls had done to Jesse and Jack watts, Celia showed us around AAMI park, Put up

with out 4 year old running around , Harry O smiled at him waved hello while he was on the Bike, all players we saw took time

to greet us.

Jesse was great , we talked for over 20 minutes about football , pinball and any and everything , how he thought we would be unstoppable

in 4 years. His training, he was on a modified program yesterday , all planned and part of what he has to do. I am guessing not pushing too hard.

he signed my little mans jumper , and played with him , A very Genuine bloke and we all appreciated the time and effort he made for us.

As I said a Big thank you to all involved , the Club , Jesse and Celia , made a old mans day and was happy my wife could now smile as she was upset

at missing the breakfast.

thought I share my story and say thanks

Nice story! Always great to hear that the players are welcoming, friendly and engaging. Best of luck with your wife's illness too, Mark.

Did you ask Jesse if he was going to re-sign? Any news?

Just kidding. Glad to hear it all went well.

NO, BUT TELL ME SERIOUSLY...DID YOU ASK HIM?!

*HYPERVENTILATES*

''how he thought we would be unstoppable in 4 years'' gives it away i reckon.

I was hoping this thread was about how the MFC had tied Jesse to the club by setting him up with Tom McDonald's sister. Ah well. Still a nice story nevertheless. I also like his comment about four years time too. ;)

When we are collectively ringing our hands after a loss such as last Saturday, this story brings you back to why you follow the club you do. Great for your boy and I am glad Jesse took the time to engage with him. Cheers Mark and I trust your wife is still smiling.

Would be nice to see something about this on the MFC site.

Edit: Last Sunday

I hope I can convince my kid to love footy at 4. I can barely get him to watch 5 minutes at a time!

Good on the club for doing this sort of stuff. I love reading these stories.

In all seriousness, how do you get him to get excited about the game? My boy just looks blankly at me like I'm an idiot for watching it.

Absolutely brilliant stuff......if Jesse says we will be unstoppable in four years he must be planning to stay.

Great story hope your missus recovers. My brother teaches one of the coaches kids and the club sent out 6 players to their school a couple of weeks ago. The school is pretty affluent and get a fair few players from different teams visiting. My brother said that the MFC players were easily the best, Jack particularly, that they have had. Just went with the kids and took everything thrown at them (as 10 year olds will.) He has decided to not bother with other teams and only going with Demons (and Dogs) as they are superb with kids and do not treat it as a chore. This from a Magpie supporter and player sponsor. I love hearing the community side of the players and reckon more should be reported (all team players). These are young men and I would be proud of any of them if they were my son.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
