THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

Recommended Posts

Yep, I wouldn't put it past them.

But I would like to see WADA, with a straight face, accept the nomination, undergo their standard process for evaluating the candidate, deal with whatever paperwork is necessary, and then officially nominate the judge as a CAS arbitrator, the day after handing down their decision on the 34.

well...somethings just take time dont they Ted !!

They WONT get anyone OFF the list. Its that simple. There is no reason or need for CAS to appoint anyone just to suit the EFC...the who ??

Did anyone say they would? Posters here all saying they won't/shouldn't.

There was a chap on bigfooty some time back who seemed to have inside mail from the ACC. (The crime commission.)

His line was that whether or not ASADA nail anyone, the ACC report will have to be tabled eventually in parliament, at which time the whole "supplements regime" will be laid out in all its glory and horror. Including the bits that ASADA weren't allowed to use.

yep...feds havent let this go yet..nor will they. The EFC has the headlines but they are only a part of it all. To call this murky would be a huge understatement.

Nearly forgot about this gem.

Essendon nominate an Essendon supporting judge for CAS Panel choice

This works on so many levels. Its just SOoooo Essendon in all its magnificence.

The protocol for selecting panel members in these appeals is that each side nominates a candidate from a list of CAS arbiters. Then both supposedly agree on the Chair though in effect Essendon will really get but one choice.

Now the Windy Hilliers are obviously concerned ( just dawning perhaps ) that many of these have no idea, nor care about AUssie Rules....only the WADA-Rules !! So they have sought to have someone from OZ appointed as their selection.

On the surface that seems an understandable position .........until you look at it properly.

The candidate, retired High Court Judge , Justice Ken Hayne is NOT a CAS listed Arbiter

The candidate is a massive Essendon supporter.

Am I suggesting Hayne cant think clearly and independently. Of course not but why on earth go out of your way TO select someone who IS an Essendon supporter. Thats plain foolish.. Its also clearly shows that that club have either no understanding of rules and procedures or simply follow in established ways and have utter contempt for them.

EFC its simple, there is a list of ACCEPTED arbiters. . You get to choose ONE from that list. Thats it

BB you do understand that Eessandon does not follow any rules. In fact they make up their own rules as they go along.

Their preferred candidate being rejected would just give them more (in their distorted view of the world) grounds for claiming unfair treatment. Suck it up.

Still no word from WorkSafe / WorkCare ??

Interesting read in a recent post re the Feds showing interest. Lawyers please: even if by some mishap EFC and its players are "cleared" ie guilt not proven by CAS, if the Feds found criminal issues at EFC how could the club itself be punished? Could they be shut down?

IF the were found to be in breach of the Helsinki Convention on human experimentation, which on face value they have in so many aspects related at very least to the governance of trials etc etc, who 'prosecutes'? What penalties are there? That in my understanding is totally divorced from any sporting code. It is a human rights issue.

Yes BB, it is quite absurd of Roy Masters to suggest there are not enough Australian qualified Arbitrators to participate in the coming case, probably in Switzerland. Of the 300 listed worldwide, there are about twenty Australian, made up of the elite of the Australian legal profession. Admittedly there are some who disqualify themselves because of past participation in the case, and some through the their current positions, but overall this amounts to no more than about half a dozen. More than enough to pick suitable Australian representatives.

In my view it would be desirable to have at least one Australian Arbitrator to give it more balance and so they can't complain it is an international conspiracy, but they have to be qualified and objective. Hird's problem is that most of those remaining are affiliated with the Olympic movement and we all know what their attitude is to the Essendon saga.

I think the real reason this line is being pushed now, is that Hird can't find amoungst them any one of his lackies, or fanatical Dons supporters. They are, and are seen to be, independent. He is pushing to have another added to the Arbitrator list because he is a mad Essendon supporter AND a former high court judge, never mind the fact he is too old to qualify to be an Arbitrator for CAS.

Hird is just up to his old tricks to stack the cards in his favour. He can't be shot for trying I suppose, but this time he won't get away with it. It is lovely to see that pack of self interested swine struggle to be heard, and even better be virtually ignored. Their bluster and carry on will get them no where in the future. In fact, I suggest the more they try to manipulate the facts, the more rigid CAS will be.

It is lovely to watch

Again, i hope you are correct 2014. These cheating dogs need to be smacked back into the stone age.

I read the bigfooty esssendrug site occasionally, to keep abreast of their delusions, and I always find myself smiling at the biggest dikchead of all. One who calls itself lance uppercut. He often tells people there that "the bloke from demonland knows nothing"

The arrogance and over confidence really is something to see. I would love to see the delusional fools face when his boys are given their bans

Gold Class Seat for all this!

WADA/CAS are going to rip these cheats to pieces.

My one antagonistic Drugendon mate has gone silent this week. Dead silent.

After the AFL Tribunal decision he was gunning me as hard as Yosemite Sam.

I just kept replying WADA the whole time :)

Roy Masters is well known for being exceptionally meticulous in his research so I'm not sure its fair to accuse him of being 'quite absurd'. He doesn't list all those that are not eligible to sit on the panel but he does list the 3 that are and so far there has been no contradiction of his assessment. He may even have got the list from the CAS Sydney office.

Its one thing to poor scorn on some of the journos reporting of EFC/ASADA saga but Masters isn't one of them.

Because Hird is the architect of the regime. All the adminiistrators that were involved will come under scrutiny/penalty as WADA has the power to recommendlife bans for those involved.

Yes he signed himself up to DL as "SanityPrevails" two or three weeks ago, and gave me a huge serve after I posted my very long post summarising the current situation just before the WADA appeal was announced. WJ advised me he is a well known "troll" and was subsequently banished from here, but not before he made a complete dick of himself.

All I can say is that the postings on Demonland have been a hell of a lot more accurate about what is happening to Essendon than anything on the myriad of Bomber sites. If they want to read what really is going on they should be looking to Demonlanders.

I wouldn't hold my breath though!

Mate, i think they honestly believe that if they keep telling themselves that there is nothing to worry about, and they will get off, that it will actually happen.

the bluff and bullsiht just pours out of them. No relationship with reality at all.

Did the question get answered as to whether the new 4 year bans apply here? I really hope they do.

The other place to look is actually the HS. Olly and Matt comment regularly and seem to be quite accurate and informed in what they say. Olly is actually a Dees supporter so he may be in here somewhere.

When they make the mini-series about this I have some suggestions for the cast.

James Hird - Christopher Pyne (That annoying voice suits Hirds personality) or Lance Armstrong

Little - Danny Devito

Dean Robinson - Arnie Schwatzenegger

Mark Thompson - Johnny Depp

Stephen Dank - Meryl Streep - why not she has played nutters before

Shane Charters - Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman

Andrew Demetriou - Al Pacino

Edit: I forget Gil - Big Bird

Yes, I agree he is usually pretty astute when it comes to this subject, but in this case I think he is wrong. If you don't believe me have a look at the facts. There are about 20 Australian Arbitrators on the CAS list and no more than 6 of them are conflicted. The other 14 are more than qualified to serve.

It is another question though whether any would be acceptable to Hird or Essendon, and I agree that neither WADA or CAS are likely to nominate Australian Arbitrators. The acceptability to Hird is the real issue, not their quality or qualifications.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
