Those records would be pretty handy now..

the records are a blind in reality....all you need to do is join the rest of the dots "comfortably" something the 3 wise ones never had the intention of doing

Wasn't the EFC (and the AFL) required to respond to requests for injection records pertaining to Hal Hunter last Friday?

For those in the 'Essendon are cheating scum camp' would have to be happy with the rather delicious timing of the announcement. WADA had only about three hours left to appeal yet it is difficult to believe that they only just decided to proceed. There must have been many in the Bomber heirachy who were very confident they were going to let it go through to the keeper (to continue with the cricket analogy) only to now see it being smacked back over their heads. I think I like WADA

I think it's smart by wada, drag it out and keep it in the back of the bombers minds, now it seems to have caught them off guard a little bit

So is now the time when the cracks begin to appear? Will we now start to see players looking to make a deal to protect themselves; or has that ship left the dock? One can only imagine what is going on among the group at Essendon. This has the potential to fracture any solidarity that has existed up until now. You would think it will only take one player to come to the conclusion he has been screwed by the club and its so-called leaders, and that it's time to look after himself, for the whole shebang to fall apart.

Interesting times ahead.

Dont think for a minute WADA only just decided to appeal. Their now playing"Their ' game. They are going to take down the cheating element at Essendon and put their heads on stakes for the world to see.. This is precedent making stuff, ground breaking for this kind of offence. This has been coming all along. Why announce now ? Why give a schmuck an even break ? Essendon's naughty ones will now get spanked after just getting Dacked !!

Hmm...something I need to check up on... It might be entirely possible that the new 2015 (2-4 years ) penalties come into force as part of any sanctions now handed down.. Also I believe NO backdating can occur !! tsk tsk tsk

Amusing comments on the Age's article.

The doozy is the conspiracy theory by Bomber54:

The timing of his announcement is a deliberate ploy to distract from tonight's Federal Budget Speech.

I'm just not sure why WADA is concerned about the Oz budget. Or perhaps the budget is meant to be a distraction from the WADA decision?

Or was WADA hoping Essendon won't notice they are appealing because Little & Hird are focussing on the tax on booze in the budget? I'm confused ...

What delightful news to wake up to, simply delightful. The drug cheats will go down in flames. They have no control now, and their propaganda machine with Murdoch can't change the outcome now.

Mwahahaha!

EFC are now paying the price for 'poking the bear' with all their obstructions, tampering, denials and delaying tactics.

WADA were never going to let it go. Even if players are not found guilty by CAS, EFC et al will squirm for at least the rest of this season. This time they will really squirm as they will not have the soothing words and wink, wink of the AFL to quell their fears. WADA said they will say nothing else until CAS make their decision. They mean it. No 'consulting' or backroom buddy buddy AFL networking/leaks this time. The players will feel very isolated and lonely.

However, I still have an uneasy feeling about the very close connections between the players legal rep DG and CAS. Whoever chooses the good folk to sit on this CAS case choose very, very carefully.

Probably because unlike the other muppets on that show, he's played an nternational Olympic sport.

He knows what athletes have to adhere to and what their responsabilities are rather then just blaming someone else.

I don't think WADA can afford to lose. Somebody is going to be finished here.

WADA had to do this. Even of there is a lack of evidence, they have dfferent investigative powers and I understand different ability to compel witnesses.

I suspect the worst outcome will be that they trash the EFC and the AFL for appalling governance, lack of oversight, lack of records and a drug regime that defies modern standards. They will use it to kick the AFL and their lax policy and hold the federal giovernment to account for poor procedures and processes relating to drugs in sport.

It will indeed be a black day for Australian sport and our 'holier than thou' attitude when it comes to the Olympics and other drug taking countries wil be shoved back in our faces. And deservedly so.

The EFC have adopted a taken no prisoners approach and we, the rest of the decent spots loving people, are the ones who will suffer massive reputational damage.

I hate the EFC with a passion. Turd even more. I hope they get their comeuppance and that Hurd will be forced to resign and never work anywhere near a sporting club ever again.

Not quite. But WADA may be angry enough to call in the 'if 2 are guilty the whole team is out' rule. How this applies 3 years down the track when some of 'that team' are now at different clubs and half of 'that team' are new, who knows.

It is a lot easier to prove 2 rather than 34. This may have been a flaw in ASADA's approach altho not enough info in the public domain to know whether ASADA prosecuted their case on 2 players or all 34.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
