Not really in keeping with the current discussion, but I have a bit of third-hand rumour.  I know a guy through work who claims to be mates with a member of the Richmond Board.  He says that this Board Member has told him that Richmond believe they have Prestia as good as signed and are hopeful of pulling Coniglio also.  Would cost them two year's worth of first round picks I would think, but they do have the picks to trade.

If Prestia has been offered huge money on a long contract, he would be silly not to take it.

Given we are trying to secure Hogan and T Mc, it is very possible we have dropped off Prestia in a bidding war.

Coniglio alone would cost 2 first round picks.

Nailed it OD. We do hang onto a sentimental or nostalgic view of players loyalty to a club, however, at the same time that view is fostered by players like Viney, Watts, Kent etc who have committed to the Demons professing their desire to stay with MFC. The more skeptical would of course say, that's because they are happy with the coin. Despite the rampant professionalism and mercenary behaviour of players, clubs and player agents, I have seen enough of life to appreciate that money or coin is not everything and that there are many players who want to stay with their clubs if they feel they are being treated fairly and not shortchanged. That's why it is so important to a clubs future that it is seen to be ethical and fair in its treatment of players and that wholesale trading  of players is dangerous to the fabric of the club. Importantly, in addition to "coin" players need to believe that the club has a future and that view is shared by the players team mates.  Hell, sorry OD this was meant to be a one sentence reply and I have got carried away.

Don't be sorry Ernest appreciate your view.

i will stay with the " show me the money" brigade.

Honestly the Dees will not win a flag in tom' s time he needs to maximise his earnings or move to a potential GF club.

Look  at Trengove, Dunn  and Grimes gave their best to the club through a lot of terrible times two captains and a vice captain and all are about to be shown the door because there usefulness is at an end.

They are being shown the door, because they have severe limitations as footballers. Most could see this coming a mile away.

I will stay with the "stay with the club  that developed you, and turned you into the footballer you are" brigade.

And you really cant see us contesting for a flag in the next 6-7 years? So you dont buy the hype around our young brigade at all?

These constant knee issues don't exactly fill me with confidence. Do we sell the farm for a bloke who will struggle to get on the park? Not sure we can take that sort of risk right now.

I remember talk about a certain No.1 draft pick who went to GWS a few years back.  It is interesting how his "chronic knee injury" doesn't seem to be a problem now.

Coniglio, is a boy from Perth who signed a 2 year contract extension mid-2015 and has been through the sewerage with GWS. They look like they are going to be a power for many years to come and he decides "I'm going to Victoria to play for Richmond". I don't buy it. Board members would know less about football department goings-ons than you or I.

All this talk about us not being able to afford Prestia because we have to sign Hogan and T-Mac is BS. We have banked $500,000 the last two years from our cap that we can use next year. The club has been very astute in this regard. If we don't get Prestia it's because we've lost in interest in him or we're only prepared to pay him what we feel he is worth. Richmond actually have elite players on their list at this point in time in Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Rance and Reiwoldt, yet they can pay more for Prestia than we can afford?? No way.

Agree, but it's a huge qualifier.

I'm somewhat heartened by the general consensus that injuries have been sorely mismanaged at GCS, but it's still a decent risk.

If you watched any of his NEAFL (yeah I know it's only the NEAFL) comeback game you will see he's not just a step above he's galaxy's above...the closest thing to Judd & Ablett if fit and in a few years could surpass them.

If fit...is the only qualifier I'd have, not hasn't played 2 years.

Seriously, Pal.

Why do you continue to bother reading and posting here when all you do is rubbish everyone's contributions and the collective group think which coincidently, is usually different to yours?

It must make you so frustrated.

Same as you, I am allowed to, it is a public forum, I don't  rubbish , read all the posts, for the majority winning is all that matters, why read my posts if you don't like them, I have quite a few posters I don't read now, unless I am quoted. I will continue to post what I like, if that is ok with you?

I see AF liked your post as well.  I expect that he is sacrificing anything to every god that existed that Prestia is magically given a new knee and he comes to us for a 4th round pick.

The main goal of a football club is to win.  Then it is to win some more.  And then it is to win even more.

You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise, and if any player on our list didn't have the above as his first, second and third priority then he should go and do something else.

That's the whole point of sport last time I checked.. Some want wins,  some want awkward relationships with young guys 40 years their junior..

Go back and have a look at us 3 years ago. If you don't think he has turned it around you are kidding yourself.

So you think the fact he is paid 4.5m  that we should have won a flag or something.  We were a disgrace and a basket case 3 years ago

No...didnt expect us to win a flag yet.  Just about all to a tee expected us to start knocking on the door by years end. We seem again caught in a revolving door .....i.e in out in out.. chasing it all about going no where.

We ended 15  as 13th with 7 wins.. Its quite possible this year we may end up 14th.

Just doesnt strike me as much of an achievement . Makes a mockery of of the talk and bullshlt that still surrounds this club.

I thought 10 wins a bare pass.  8 or 9 is a fail

Our game day ability to adapt to other teams is woeful. We still lack any real leadership on the field..what happens off filed is all nicey nicey  but where it counts is  once past the white line.

We're still a club of excuses.

As OD has mentioned Jackson's verve for seeking finals this year has gone to ground.

So many here still aspire to mediocre results..  Maybe more than a handful wearing the jumper do as well.

Russell yo yos ought to be our primary sponsor...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
